Our Story

Our dynamic story begins with a man by the name of Wilkie Clark. As a young man in his early 20s his single desire in life was to become a funeral director and one day own his own funeral home. His dream of one day becoming an entrepreneur would be deferred for nearly 30 years, until he reached the age of 49. But, on February 18, 1969, Clark Funeral Home was born. The late Mr. Clark passed away on July 29, 1989.

His devoted wife, Mrs. Hattie Lee Peters Clark, an outstanding educator at the Randolph County Training School, in Roanoke, supported him in his efforts to become an entrepreneur giving help in numerous ways, from writing and designing funeral programs, to helping pay the bills, and manage the bookkeeping tasks. Mrs. Clark went home to be with our Lord on February 23, 1989.

Their daughter and only child, Charlotte, grew up in the industry, and adapted to the never-ending journey of providing service to families throughout Randolph County and, beyond. Today, Charlotte A. Clark-Frieson continues to act in an advisory capacity for Clark Memorial Funeral Service. She is an Alabama Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.

Clarence Frieson, Jr., joined the Clark family on July 30, 1977, by way of his marriage to Charlotte. A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Clarence blended in with the family, and did his part to continue the success of Clark Funeral Home. Clarence was called home from labor to reward on April 15, 1993.
