Let’s start with gauges. 20, some 19, 18 and 16. The higher the gauge, the thinner the metal that goes into the product.

20-Gauge Steel: You will find your most economically priced caskets in the 19 to 20-gauge category. This grouping includes several of our “minimum” quality metal caskets to choose from. They feature a one-piece top, formed from a single sheet of steel, for added strength. A continuous seam weld secures the casket bottom to ensure its structural integrity. In addition, many 20 gauge caskets feature a one-piece rubber gasket that helps resist the entry of outside elements into the casket. Some 20 gauge caskets are manufactured without a rubber gasket and these are referred to as non-gasketed steel or NGS. Take a look ….

18-Gauge Steel Products

18-Gauge Steel: 18-gauge steel steps you up to a thicker metal, a heavier and more solid and durable product; and all come with a gasketed closing mechanism, which is the hallmark of the “protective” festures you may have heard about.

16-Gauge Steel Products

16-Gauge Steel: 16-gauge steel offers a much thicker, heavier and very durable product. Many 16 gauge steel caskets have beautifully rounded corners (called urnside), which add to the beauty and workmanship that goes into producing it. They are also recognizeable by the plush and rich interiors that accompany the exterior.

Other Materials:
