With deepest love and respect, the Goss families of Roanoke, Dadeville and Alexander City announce the passing from this life of their beloved father, brother, and uncle, Willie Frank Goss, 74, a native of Roanoke, and current resident of Dadeville. Mr. Goss transitioned from this life on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Brown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Alexander City, Alabama.
Willie Frank Goss, age 74, of Dadeville, Alabama, departed from this life peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Willie was born in Heard County, Georgia to parents, Hardy Goss and Christine Watkins Goss on October 8, 1948. He was raised in Roanoke, Alabama, and attended Randolph County Training School; after his schooling, Willie enrolled in Jobcorp. For over thirty years, Willie worked as a flagman and machine operator as an employee of the Gary Ingram Paving Company.
Willie was a man of many talents. As a younger man, he was an undefeated amateur boxer and even sparred with George Foreman. Being an all-around outdoorsman, Willie loved hunting raccoons and Squirrels, fishing, and gardening. Willie’s most valuable time and memories were made while he spent time with his family and friends. As a Christian, he confessed his faith in the Lord Jesus and was a member of the Mount Carrie Baptist Church in Franklin, Georgia.
Willie Frank Goss is proceeded in death by his parents, father: Hardy Goss and Mother: Christine Watkins Goss; two brothers: Arthur Lee Goss and Horace Goss; one sister Annie Ruth Goss and a life-long girlfriend, Betsy Wyckoff.
Willie leaves behind a legacy of love to be shared by his eight children; five sons: Lee Clayton of Dadeville, Alabama, James Wyckoff (Shirley) of Tuskegee, Alabama; Derrick Wyckoff, Michael Wyckoff, and Terry Wyckoff, all of Jackson Gap, Alabama; three daughters: Angela Sims (Grady) of Jackson Gap, Alabama; Loretta Wyckoff (Robert) and Alecia Wyckoff, both of Alexander City, Alabama; Two caring brothers: Johnny Goss (Carolyn) and Roger Goss (Mary), both of Roanoke, Alabama; Two devoted sisters: Phyllis Hunter (Alfred) of Rock Mills, Alabama and Lisa Goss of Roanoke, Alabama; and a host of other family and friends to mourn the loss of this great man.
