Walker Slaughter Obituary

With deepest regret, we announce the passing of Mr. Walker Slaughter, age 91, a resident of 1496 County Road 253, Five Points, Alabama.

Mr. Slaughter transitioned from this life on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Wedowee Hospital in Wedowee, Alabama.

Public viewing and visiting hours for Mr. Slaughter will be observed on Sunday, November 9, 2014, after 2:00 PM.

Graveside services for Mr. Slaughter will be observed on Monday, November 10, 2014, at 1:00 O'Clock PM from the Friendship #2 Baptist Church, Lafayette, Alabama, where the Reverend Curtis Spidell serves as Pastor. The Reverend William H. Trammell and Reverend L.B. Houston will Officiate.

THE OBITUARY

Walker Slaughter was born in Chambers County, Alabama on July 16, 1923, to the parentage of the late Huston and Inie (Barker) Slaughter. Mr. Slaughter was one of six siblings..

On March 24, 1945, Walker was married to the former Elizabeth "Lizzie" Green.

He was well known as "Walker" by most of his friends. For many years, Walker resided in the historic East Roanoke Community.

Walker was the kind of man who enjoyed life with his family and friends. He loved his hats, suits, and conversing with his best friend, John Lewis Blake, for many years.

He was preceded in death by his two (2) brothers: Jim and Charlie Slaughter; and two (2) sisters: Aleane and Mattie R. Slaughter; and a special niece, Mozelle, Ware. Walker was called home on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at Wedowee Hospital, Wedowee, Alabama. .

Walker is survived by one (1) sister, Emma Gray (John) of Atlanta, Georgia; three (3) special nieces Agatha Baggin and Ethel Mae Bailey of Roanoke, Alabama, and Nikida Gray of Decatur, Georgia; his estranged spouse, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Green; and a host of other nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.
