Victor Thompson Obituary

It is with extreme sadness that the Thompson families of Roanoke and Carrollton, are compelled to bear this tragic news that our wonderful father, brother, uncle, and friend, Victor Lamar Thompson, affectionately known by many as "Vic" has left us.  "Vic" was known to all as a zealous fan of "The Black and Gold," an industrious young entrepreneur and tradesman, and a skillful self-employed painter.  Our family has been hit hard by this tragedy and we desperately need your prayers as we labor through this grief.  Thank each of you for the love and prayers that our communities both in Roanoke and Carrollton have already showered upon us.  More details are announced herein.

Celebration Of Life, Love, & Memory for
Our Beloved Brother, Victor Lamar "Vic" Thompson

"Vic" was one of seven (7) children born to the parentage of the late Rufus and Doris (Allen) Thompson.  He was the father of two (2) sons: Khalifa Nunn & Belal Thompson who he was very devoted to and loved dearly.

Victor Joined Rocky Mount United Methodist Church at an early age, but as an adult male, he transformed his beliefs and faith to the Muslim religion and remained faithfully until his death.

He attended Handley Elementary and High School in Roanoke.  Victor was a man of wisdom, knowledge and understanding, focusing on the needs and concerns facing our Black people.  In Life, he was known as Victor Muhammed, for the views he shared.    He was a devoted believer in the Muslim faith and followed the teachings of the Honorable Minister Louis  Farrakhan.  He was known as a great cook, and friend to many.   He was loved by all his siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends and a devoted diehard Pittsburg Stealers and Auburn Fan.

"Vic" was preceded in death by both parents, Rufus and Doris Thompson.  Though he struggled to cling to life, tragically, Vic transitioned from this life on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2024 at Wellstar Cobb in Douglasville, GA.

During this time, prayers are lifted up for his entire family: two (2) children: Khalifa Nunn, University Of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL and Belal Thompson of Roanoke; siblings: two (2) brothers: Gregory Thompson (Denise) of Carrollton, GA, and Rodney Thompson of Roanoke; four (4) sisters:  Brenda Thompson, Allison Joiner (Leon), Jacklyn Heard (Apostle W.A. Heard), and Alesia Thompson Hughley, all of Roanoke;  a special sister-in-law, Denise Thompson, who was by his side every day when he was hospitalized and in Rehab; a special nephew, Kevin Thompson of Roanoke, who was more like a brother to "Vic"; a special friend and companion, Alethea Allen; two (2) special aunts: Agnes Allen of Roanoke, and Christine Allen of Cleveland, OH; two special friends: Adrian Trammell and Ladarius "Red" Williams both of whom he recognized as his nephews and who referred to him as "Uncle Vic"; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
