Mr. Terrence Bernard Boddie, 61, of Roanoke, Alabama, peacefully transitioned at his residence on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Born on December 2, 1964, in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, Terence was the beloved son of Mrs. Gwendolyn Boddie Oliver and the devoted stepson of Mr. Thomas James Oliver. He later made Roanoke, Alabama his home, residing in the community for the past fifteen years after relocating from Atlanta.
Terrence was a proud graduate of Sylvan High School in Atlanta, Georgia, and later attended Tuskegee University for two years. A man of faith, he was a committed Christian and an active member of Peace & Goodwill Baptist Church in Roanoke, Alabama. There, he faithfully served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent, roles he carried with dedication and quiet strength.
Terrence honorably served his country in the United States Coast Guard Transportation Department from October 10, 1984, until his retirement due to physical disability on July 9, 1987
His final duty assignment was at the United States Coast Guard Base in Charleston, South Carolina, where he was permanently retired with honorable service.
During his military career, he received several commendations, including the Coast Guard Rifle Marksman Ribbon, Coast Guard Pistol Marksman Ribbon, and the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon.
He also completed extensive training programs, including the Basic Educational Enrichment Program, Shipboard Firefighting, General Shipboard Firefighting, Shipboard Firefighting Team Training, and Damage Control Team Training, demonstrating both discipline and commitment to excellence.
Professionally, Terence worked as a factory worker in the food processing industry at Koch Foods for two years.
Terrence was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Oliver, Jr. (Sharon), and Darryl Oliver (Edna).
Terrence leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Mrs. Gwendolyn Oliver of Roanoke, Alabama; his devoted step-father, Mr. Thomas James Oliver of Roanoke, Alabama; two brothers: Reginald Oliver (Charlotte) of Roanoke, AL, Clinton Oliver (Jamekia) of Palmetto, GA; and his sister, Deborah Oliver of Atlanta, Georgia. He also leaves a host of extended family members, church family, and friends who will forever remember his gentle spirit and steadfast presence.
Terrence had no children.
A Memorial Service honoring the life and legacy of Mr. Terrence Bernard Boddie will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in “The Community Room” Memorial Gathering Space at Clark Memorial Funeral Service in Roanoke, Alabama. Reverend L.B. Houston will deliver the eulogy.
