Sharon Phillips Obituary

With extreme sadness, Roanoke's Phillips and Morgan families announce the passing from this life of their mother, grandmother, and sister, Mrs. Sharon (Morgan) Phillips, 69, a lifelong native and resident of 163 Nook Street, Roanoke.  Mrs. Phillips transitioned from this life on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at her residence in Roanoke. Services for Mrs. Phillips are pending and will be announced.

In Loving Memory of
Mrs. Sharon Augustine Morgan Phillips

Sharon Morgan Phillips, age 69 and lifelong resident of Roanoke, AL, was called to Eternal rest Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at her residence. Sharon was born to Mr. Wash Morgan and Mrs. Donnie Finley Morgan on September 2, 1953, in Roanoke, Alabama.

As a lifelong resident of Roanoke, AL, Sharon confessed her faith in Christ and was a faithful member at Bethel United Methodist Church. She loved serving the Lord at Bethel, where she was a worship leader, usher and church treasurer. Sharon attended the Randolph County Training School and graduated from Handley High School. Upon graduation, she served her community in the healthcare field as a dietician, working a combined 30+ years at Rosser's and Traylor’s Nursing Home. One of her many passions was the love of fashion and gardening. She was always looking her best and being the best role model for her grandchildren. She had a "green thumb" and always had beautiful flowers. Sharon was caring, dependable and became the family's matriarch although she was the youngest sibling. She was a superb cook; she would cook and gather everyone together for quality family time. She was a jewel among women; very caring, a loving friend and a helper to anyone who needed her.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Wash Morgan and Mrs. Donnie Finley Morgan; her son,
Lamont Phillips; and a host of brothers and sisters, namely: George Morgan, Forrest Morgan, Raymond Morgan, Eddie Lee Morgan, Wash Morgan Jr., Clifford Morgan, Bobby Mack Morgan, Katie Whitlow and Annie Sims, who all welcomed her into eternal rest.

Sharon leaves behind children (her heartbeats) who loved and known her as the best mother in the world, son, Harold E. Phillips, Chesapeake, VA; daughter, Christino Phillips, Roanoke, AL and daughter-in-law, Angela Shepard; sister, Mary Baker and brother Johnny Frank Morgan, both of Roanoke; Sisters-in-law, Dottie Ruth Morgan, Roanoke, AL; Emma Morgan, Chicago, IL; Linda Morgan Stewart, Roanoke, AL; fond memories to be shared by Sharon's grandchildren: Shajuan Phillips, Shamar Houston, Jalin Shepard, Jakiea Autrey, Jayson Phillips, De'mari Phillips, Je'mari Phillips; Special grandson, Jasper Keeling; loving great-grandchildren: Legend Roussell, Brayden Roussell and Dandre (Peanut) Munford, Jr.; Special Friends: Diane Bell and Daisie Lee Hall both of Roanoke; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will miss Sharon deeply.
