Reginald Owensby Obituary

With deepest remorse, the family of Mr. Reginald Wayne Owensby, 61, a native and life-long resident of Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama is compelled to share the heartrending news of the passing from this life of our beloved father, grandfather and brother.  Reginald transitioned from this life on Friday, December 6, 2024 at University of Florida Health, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.   Our family solicits your prayers, as we struggle to process our loss.  May God bless each of you; and may God bless our family.   More details to follow...

In Loving Memory of Mr. Reginald Wayne Owensby

Reginald Owensby was born in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama on April 27, 1963, to the parentage of the late Arthur James and Maggie Lois (Hooks) Owensby.    The Owensby family was a large, loving and jovial family of seven (7) sons and six (6) daughters.   Regretfully, Reginald was preceded in death by four (4) brothers: Harvey, Rickey, Joseph, and Willie and one (1) sister, Mary Howell.

He grew up here in Roanoke, where he attended Roanoke City Schools, and later worked in construction.  Reginald was a Christian, who, at an early age, started his faith journey at Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church.   Reginald was also enlisted in the Alabama National Guard.

Reginald was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Harvey and Carrie Owensby.  Later, In 2021, along with our remaining siblings, our hearts were again broken by the homegoing of our beloved Mother, Maggie Lois (Hooks) Owensby, and Father, Arthur James Owensby;  two years thereafter, in 2023, Willie reunited with our grandparents, our mother and our father.   After walking with God for 61 years, Reginald transitioned from this life on Friday, December 6, 2024 at University of Florida Health, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.

A beloved father, grandfather, and brother, Reginald will continue to fill our hearts with much love and many cherished memories.  His survivors include two (2) children: Princess Heard (Douglas) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Conelius Lee of Atlanta, GA; three (3) grandchildren: Kadarious Lee, Jay Lee, and Essence Lee all of Atlanta, GA; three (3) brothers: Billy Owensby of Roanoke, Larry R. Owensby, Sr. (Lisa) and Christopher Owensby both of Jacksonville, FL; five (5) sisters: Margaret Wright (Lorenzia) of Fayetteville, NC, Betty C. Owensby of Griffin, GA, Shirley Langston of Austell, GA, Barbara Driver   and Susan Cooper (Clifford) both of Roanoke; a host of loving cousins, other relatives and friends.
