With overwhelmingly heavy hearts we regret to inform you of the tragic passing from this life of our beloved father, brother, nephew, and faithful friend, Reginald Demetrius Turman, a native and former resident of Roanoke, currently residing in Riverdale, GA. Reginald transitioned from this life on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in Riverdale.
Mr. Reginald Demetrius Turman — known affectionately to family and friends as “Reggie” — departed this earthly life on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the age of forty. His passing occurred in Riverdale, Georgia, and though his earthly journey ended far from home, his heart never left the community that shaped him—Roanoke, Alabama.
Born on January 21, 1985, at Randolph County Hospital in Roanoke, Reggie was the son of Mr. Karry Stegall of Roanoke and the late Ms. Trudy Turman, who preceded him in death on July 8, 2016. He was reared among family who loved him deeply and remained a source of pride, joy, and sometimes laughter through all the seasons of life. Early in life, Reggie joined the Friendship Baptist Church in the Bacon Level Community, remaining steadfastly connected to the Body of Christ until called home.
Reggie attended Handley High School in Roanoke graduating with the Class of 2004 before beginning his working years. Over the years, he became known as a man unafraid of hard work. He held positions with several companies, including AIJN USA and Steel-Fab, and previously worked as an operator for Mohawk. He also took on various jobs throughout the Atlanta area — always ready to do what needed to be done to provide for himself and those he loved.
What truly brought Reggie happiness, though, wasn’t the workplace — it was family. His eleven-year-old son, Jakez “Kez” Turman of Roanoke, was the absolute light of his life. Those who knew Reggie know how proud he was of his boy — how he bragged about Kez’s achievements in school, how he beamed when he talked about him, and how his love for his son could be felt by anyone within earshot.
Reggie’s personality was a blend of energy, warmth, and humor. He loved people, loved to laugh, and never met a stranger. He was passionate about music— and loved to rap — and had an ear for rhythm that matched his vibrant spirit. But more than anything, he loved cooking. Whether experimenting with new recipes or preparing family favorites, Reggie found joy in serving meals and seeing smiles around the table. It was his way of showing love.
Though his life was cut tragically short, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best: his father, Mr. Karry Stegall of Roanoke; his beloved son, Jakez “Kez” Turman of Roanoke; his brothers, Pastor Patrick O. Turman (Felicia) of Roanoke, Brandon Turman of Notasulga, and Steven Turman of Lanett; and his sister, Brittany Brooks of Birmingham. He also leaves behind four (4) devoted aunts—Mrs. Kathy Slay, Mrs. Nita Turman Lane, and Mrs. Betsy Stegall Bryant, all of Roanoke, and Mrs. Ruby Stegall Glenn (Gary) of LaGrange, GA — as well as special cousins, Tanya McCray, Chris Lane, John Lane, and little cousin Jasmine Winston, who adored her “Reggie.”
Among his dearest friends—who were like brothers—were Marell Allen, Carlos Allen, Chris Scott, and Tory Carlisle. He also shared a close bond with his cousin Jessica Lane, who was like a sister to him.
Though gone too soon, Reginald Demetrius “Reggie” Turman leaves behind a legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love that will never fade from the hearts of his family and friends.
