With deepest regret, we announce the passing from this life of Mrs. Rebecca Bailey Parker, 79, a resident of 324 4th Street, SW, Wedowee, Alabama. Mrs. Parker transitioned from this life on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Tanner Medical Center, East Alabama in Wedowee, Alabama.
Public viewing and visiting hours for Mrs. Parker will be observed on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, from 1:00 until 6:00 pm.
The Homegoing Service for Mrs. Parker will be observed Thursday, November 15, 2018, at 1:00 pm at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, 774 Woodland Avenue, West, Wedowee, AL, where the Reverend James Gresham serves as pastor. Reverend Craig McClure will serve as Eulogist. Other ministers sharing the roster include Elder John H. Staples, Jr., and Reverend Sylvester Parker.
Rebecca Bailey Parker was born in Wedowee, Alabama on January 29, 1939 to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Lawrence and Lillie Ruth (Heflin) Bailey.
Her family of origin included seven (7) siblings besides Rebecca: Maeola Houston and Barbara Sims of Wedowee, AL, Irene Marable of East Point, GA, George Wilson Bailey of Atlanta, GA, Amos Johnson Bailey of Dayton, OH, and finally James Bailey and John Lawrence Bailey, Jr., who both preceded her in death.
On January 1, 1956, she married the late Solon "Fuzz" Parker. Their marriage was blessed by the birth of five children. One daughter, Belinda Crutcher preceded her in death.
Rebecca was a life-long member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Wedowee. No stranger to hard work, she worked for 30 years as a housekeeper for the Mulligan family; and she was also employed at Breman, Bowden Investment/Sewell as a seamstress for 10 years. She enjoyed her work. During her younger years, she enjoyed softball and baseball games. Her favorite pastime was watching television.
Rebecca transitioned from this life on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Tanner Medical Center, East Alabama.
She leaves to cherish many loving memories, her children: James Vernon Parker, Joyce White (Calvin, Jr.), and Arnold Parker all of Wedowee, Alabama; and Kelvin T. Parker of Atlanta, Georgia; thirteen (13) grandchildren, fifteen (15) great-grandchildren; and one (1) great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
