With heartfelt sympathy we announce the passing from this life of Mr. Raymond Morgan, 88, a resident of 2113 Defoors Ferry Road NW, Apt 6, Atlanta, GA. Mr. Morgan Transitioned from this life on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center, South Campus, in Atlanta.
Public viewing and visiting hours for Mr. Morgan will be observed on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 1:00 until 6:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be observed on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 7419 County Road 278, Roanoke, Alabama 36274. Pastor Calvin Trammell will officiate, with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery at Canaan Baptist Church.
In Loving Memory of Raymond Morgan
Mr. Raymond Morgan was born February 16, 1930 in Fulton County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Earnest and Lottie (Pitts) Morgan, Sr.
In 1951, at age 21, Raymond entered the United States Army in Gadsden, Alabama. Before that time, his civilian job was working as a farm hand. He served our nation with valor, during the Korean Conflict, for 3 years, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His military decorations included: The Koreans Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal 1 o/s Bar. Having reached the rank of Sergeant, he was honorably discharged January 12, 1954 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
After his military service, Raymond married the late Eddie Rowe, and their union was blessed by the birth of three (3) children: Reginald Morgan of Smyrna, Georgia, Cedrid Morgan and Judy Morgan both of Atlanta, Georgia.
He held employment in Atlanta as a shipping clerk for Atlanta Textiles, for forty years.
Raymond transitioned from this life on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center, South Campus.
Many fond memories will be also be cherished by his sister, Rosa Morgan Solognier (Joaquin) of Moreno Valley, California; two (2) sisters-in-law, Mary Morgan of Dallas, Texas, Betty Morgan of Atlanta, Georgia; and finally a brother-in-law, Wilmer Drake, of Arizona, many other loving relatives and friends.
