With deepest regret, we announce the passing of Ms. Virginia Ann Capers, a Roanoke native, fondly remembered as "Gint" of 1528 Pierson Avenue, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.
Ms. Capers transitioned from this life on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Public visiting and viewing hours for Ms. Capers will be observed on Friday, December 19, 2014, after 12:00 Noon.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 1:00 O'clock PM from the Saint Paul Baptist Church, 1144 Henry Street, Roanoke, Alabama 36274, The Reverend Jeffery Rosser, Pastor and Reverend Gilbert Staples officiating.
Burial will follow in Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, (Level Road) County Road 26, Wadley, Randolph County, Alabama 36276, immediately following the services.

The ObituaryVirginia Ann Capers was born in Randolph County Alabama on August 1, 1953 to the parentage of the late Earnest Johnson and the late Willie Agnes Geneva (Boyd) Capers.
Her family's religious roots were with the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in the Broughton area, however growing up in Roanoke, "Gint" and her siblings attended and joined First Baptist Church in Roanoke, Alabama.
As a youth, Virginia grew up in the Historic East Roanoke community and attended the Randolph County Training School in Roanoke, Alabama. She found her vocation as a Certified Nursing Assistant for Rosser's Nursing Home in Roanoke. She also worked at Randolph County Hospital in Roanoke. In later years, Virginia moved to Birmingham, Alabama. Her children and grandchildren will hold fast to their fond memories of Virginia as a devoted mother, overflowing with love for her family and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Agnes Geneva Capers; father, Earnest Johnson; step-father, Floyd Capers; brother, James Capers; and two (2) sisters, Agnes Geneva Capers Goss and Dorothy Jean Heard. She was called home from labor to reward during the early afternoon hours on Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
She leaves to cherish many loving memories: four (4) sons: Houston Dion Capers (Earnestine) of Roanoke, Alabama, David Todd, Jr., of West Point, Georgia, Dairion Capers of Dayton, Ohio, and Jeffery Capers (Deanna) of Canton, Georgia; her step-mother, Irene Johnson of Roanoke, Alabama; six (6) brothers: Dondrell Capers of Atlanta, Georgia, Clarence Capers of Birmingham, Alabama, Reverend Sanford Johnson (Angela) of Madison, Alabama, Leon Staples and Reverend Gilbert Staples (Geraldine) of Roanoke, Alabama and Randy Staples of Montgomery, Alabama; five (6) sisters: Earnestine Johnson and Gwendolyn Hines (Donnie), both of Roanoke, Alabama, Alesia Cooley (Quintin) of Wedowee, Alabama, Janice McCoy of Lanett, Alabama, Debra Oliver (George) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Angela Johnson of Rochester, New York; two (2) special friends, Joe Simon, Jr., and Kewanna Hooks; ten (10) grandchildren; seven (7) great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends, and many other loving relatives and friends.
