Mrs. Rosia Ethel Gunn

With deepest sympathy we regretfully announce the passing from this life, of Mrs. Rosia Ethel Gunn, age 98, a resident of 5378 County Road 258, LaFayette, Alabama, early Thursday morning, November 2, 2017. Mrs. Gunn was at Hospice LaGrange, in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia.

The visitation and public viewing will be observed on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm.

Mrs. Gunn's abundant and enduring life will be celebrated on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm with the Rehope Baptist Church, 5267 County Road 258, LaFayette, Alabama 36862. The Reverend Dr. Harvey L. Jones, Pastor will officiate.

Burial will follow in the cemetery adjoinng the Rehope Baptist Church, directly across from the church.
Mrs. Rosia E. Gunn was born August 22, 1919 to Fonzie and Lena Howell in rural Chambers County. She attended Unity Model School in Five Points, Alabama.

She was united in Holy Matrimony in 1941 to Mr. Jimmie J. Gunn and to this union was born seven children.

Mrs. Rosia E. Gunn joined Rehope Baptist Church at an early age, where she remained a faithful church worker until her health declined. She was a devoted Sunday School Teacher, choir member, church mother, Deaconess, along with whatever the Lord laid on her heart to do. She was employed at Handley High School as a custodian for 12 years,and a role model for adults and children not only in LaFayette, but throughout Chambers County and surrounding states.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Fonzie and Lena Howell and her beloved husband, Jimmie Gunn, three (3) sons: Robert, Charlie and Leophus Gunn, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Gunn, and son-in-law, Prince Barrett; five (5) sisters: Minnie B. Howell Goodson, Vena Howell-Davis, America Mae Howell, Repsie Dunson, Emma Howell, and one (1) brother, Lonnie Howell.

Mrs. Rosia E. Gunn leaves to cherish her beloved memory... four children: Roosevelt Gunn (Sandra) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Roslyn Usher (Jimmie) of Dayton, Ohio, Roy Gunn of LaFayette, Alabama and Elaine Barrett of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters-in-law: Gloria Gunn of Dayton, Ohio and Lemeral Gunnof Detroit, Michigan; one brother, John Blake (Mary) of LaFayette, Alabama; seventeen (17) grandchildren, twenty-three (23) great grandchildren; six (6) great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
