The Obituary
Romita Carreon was born August 26, 1939 to the parentage of Lebrado and Restituta (Adobas) Carreon in Ozamiz City, Philippines.
She was raised during the time of World War II and the Japanese Occupation. She was raised in the Philippines, where she lived until the age of 40. While there, she took care of her family by working around the house. She helped her sisters with their photography business.
She became "pen-pals" with the late Paul Woodgett of Roanoke. He later sent for her to join him in the United States. Upon her arrival to the United States, she married the late Paul Woodget, and their union was blessed with a son, Carmelo.
As a child, Romita grew up Catholic, but later in life, began to embrace the non-denominational school of thought. She believed "Jesus is the God."
Romita worked for many years in the health care field, as a Nurses Assistant at both Rosser's Nursing Home and Traylor's Nursing Home in Roanoke.
Romita will be remembered as a "matter-of-fact" person, who didn't take any junk. She was also a spiritual person, who was very caring, and put others ahead of herself. She believed FAMILY is the most important thing because it is right. A giving person who believed in the idea that to serve others is to be "blessed."
Her husband, Paul preceded her to heaven. Also, preceding her in death were: two (2) sisters: Manolita Carreon Vergara and Lorencita Carreon Sepe; and one (1) brother: Dionesio A. Carreon. Romita's life's journey was completed on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Florence Hand Home, in LaGrange, Georgia, bringing an end to her 74-year walk with God.
She leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories: a son, Carmelo Woodgett (Alesea) of Sugar Hill, Georgia; three (3) step sons: Perry Woodgett (Giselle) of Powder Springs, Georgia, Leslie Woodgett (Sheryl) of Metuchen, New Jersey and Wayne Woodgett of Wadley, Alabama; one (1) step daughter, Joyce Wyatt of Fairburn, Georgia; two Grandchildren: Olivier Woodget and Sanaa Woodgett of Sugar Hill, Georgia; two sisters: Leona Carreon Dumalagan and Lamberta Carreon Llamas; and two (2) brothers: Benhur A. Carreon and Letecia A. Carreon; three (3) sisters-in-law: Eva Forte (Salone) of Roanoke, Alabama, Jimmie Small (Clarence) of Olmsted, Ohio and Jannie Paige (Willie) of Cleveland, Ohio, in addition to several loving nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
