In Loving Memory Of Mrs. Melvinnie Ware Johnson
Melvinnie Ware was born August 23, 1933, to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Frank and Annie Ray (Griffin) Ware in Randolph County, Alabama. She was born into a family of six siblings: Charlie Frank, Jr., Henry, Rilla Gray, Lorene, Nellie and Melvinnie. All of her siblings preceded her in passing.
At an early age, she joined First Baptist Church, and remained a faithful member there throughout life.
Melvinnie married the late John Wesley Johnson. Their union gave rise to a loving blended family of seven children. Two of her children, Perry Ware, and Derrick Johnson preceded her in death.
Melvinnie was a very kind and loving mother, sometimes holding down multiple jobs, in order to make a home for herself and her children. After 25 years of dedicated service as a housekeeper at Traylor's Nursing Home in Roanoke, she proudly retired on December 28, 1998. She also worked at Rosser's Nursing Home for a shorter period of time.
Bringing a peaceful end to a lengthy illness, Melvinnie closed her eyes and fell into eternal sleep, took flight toward eternity where she was reunited with her parents, siblings husband and two sons. She transitioned from this life on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at her home in Roanoke.
She is survived by five loving children: daughters: Johnnie Mae McCory (Curtis) of Smith Station, Alabama, Phyllis McCray (Joe), and Debbie Johnson (Reginald McClendon) of Roanoke, Alabama; and sons: Tracey Johnson (Linda) of Franklin, Georgia, and Kenneth Johnson (Rochelle) of Roanoke, Alabama; special cousins, Lenora Trady and Mary Dennis Holliday of Roanoke, Alabama; a faithful granddaughter and caregiver, Felicia Johnson of Roanoke, Alabama; twenty-two (22) grandchildren; twenty-seven (27) great grandchildren; and eleven (11) great-great grandchildren; many loving neighbors, other relatives and friends.
