THE OBITUARY

Ms. Mary Frances McCurty was born in Chambers County, Alabama on July 10, 1950, to the parentage of the late John Johnson, and Elizabeth (Miller) McCurty.

At an early age, she joined the Canaan Baptist Church in the Welch community. She later joined the Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church in Roanoke, Alabama, where she remained a member until her home-going.

Mary Frances' soul mate was Mr. Ervin Lee Tucker, whom God led into her life over forty years ago. They were constant companions and domestic partners for many years. On January 13, 2003, they legalized their union in wedlock and remained faithfully joined. Their union gave rise to one beloved daughter, Karen, who they both cherish.

Mary Frances was a superb cook, and worked for about 15 years as a cook at The Galley Restaurant. When she was not working, she occupied herself doing her favorite activity: planting flowers, and watching them grow. She had the gift of the "green thumb" and her plants responded to her loving care by growing and blooming profusely. Next to her flowers, she loved playing with her grandchildren, Damon, Anisha and Kanisha. Their favorite video game was "Street-Fighter" and she was so skillful at "street-fighter", that she could always beat them. She enjoyed many many happy moments together with her daughter Karen and the grandchildren.

Mary Frances was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth McCurty; two brothers: L.C. McCurty, Jr. and Lorenzo White and a niece Elizabeth Mosely Smith. Sadly, Mary Frances Tucker returned to God’s loving arms on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Traylor Retirement Community in Roanoke, Alabama.

Mrs. Tucker is survived by: her beloved husband and companion of 40 years, Mr. Ervin Lee Tucker; Daughter, Ms. Karen Tucker; Grandchildren: Damon Johnson (Shanna), twins Kanisha and Anisha Johnson; her mother-in-law, Mary Sue Collins; sisters: Mary Mosley, Mary Jones (Darren), Betty Staples, Corine McCurty (Randy); Phyllis McCray (Willie Joe) of Roanoke, Alabama, and Johnnie Mae McCory (Curtis) of Smiths Station, Alabama; a very special friend, Lizzie Gregg of Roanoke, Alabama; uncles, aunts, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, many many loving neighbors, friends, and all of those who loved her.

We pray that God will grant the family peace, during their time of loss.
