Mrs. Lila Knight-Rowe Obituary

With deepest regret we announce the passing from this life, of Mrs. Lila Lavern Knight-Rowe, age 80, a long-time resident of 168 Stewart Street, Roanoke, Alabama, called to her heavenly home late Friday evening July 17, 2015.

Public Visitation and viewing hourse will be observed on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 6:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be observed on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 1:00 O'Clock PM at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, County Road 823, Wadley, Alabama 36276 at 1:00 p.m.

Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery at Mount Olive United Methodist Church, immediately following the services.


In Loving Memory Of Lila Lavern Kright Rowe

Lila Lavern Knight-Rowe was born February 8, 1935 in Daviston, Alabama to the parentage of the late Green and Alice Hill-Knight.

At an early age, Lavern joined Rocky Mount United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. She later joined Mount Olive United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member until her health began to decline.

Lavern, as she was known by her friends, attended Rocky Mount Church School and later Randolph County Training School. Upon graduating from high school she attended business school in Nashville, Tennessee, after which she returned home to Alabama. Ms. Rowe studied nursing at Troup County Technical College and later received her Associate Degree in Applied Science from Southern Union State Community College and became Registered Nurse.

Ms. Rowe served as a registered nurse with many facilities in Alabama and Georgia. At the height of her professional career, she owned and operated Knight's Assisted Living Facility, fulfilling a life-long dream.

Ms. Lavern Rowe was united in marriage to the late Limmie Rowe. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters. A member of a local social club, Lavern loved to travel and take vacations with her family. Ms. Rowe was a woman of many talents, she also enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Ms. Lila Lavern Knight-Rowe was called to her heavenly home late Friday evening July 17, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; two brothers, Willie Green Knight, Jr. and Billy Joel Knight; and three sisters Alice Maude Knight Neal, Annie Ruth Knight-Paige, and Mary Lois Knight-Pearson.

She leaves to cherish many fond memories: two sons Keith Rowe of Roanoke, Alabama and Michael Owens(Yvette) of Detroit, Michigan; two daughters Carolyn Dixon (Aundre) of Riverdale, Georgia, Terolyn Johnson (Tyrone) of Roanoke, Alabama; three sisters, Annise Knight-Nunn of Atlanta, Georgia, Brenda Goodwin (Danny) and Lillie Robertson of Wedowee, Alabama; five brothers, Lewis Knight (Era), Dallas Knight of Kinston, North Carolina, Manuel Knight of Atlanta, Georgia, Ray Robertson of Wedowee, Alabama, and Sanders Robertson (Rhonda) of Roanoke, Alabama; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
