The Obituary

With love and reverence, we honor our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Christine Treadwell Jackson was born on July 27, 1939 in Randolph County, Alabama; she departed this life on February 21, 2015 in Lagrange, Georgia. She was the second child of nine siblings born to the late William Taft Treadwell and Beulah Mae Austin Treadwell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ernestine Treadwell Hall; and her brothers Austin Treadwell and Josephus Treadwell.

Early in life she joined Peace and Goodwill Baptist Church in Roanoke, Alabama. She later joined Second Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. After moving to Greenville, Georgia, she faithfully attended Branch Hebron Baptist Church.

Christine was a hard-working woman whose most important role in life and her sole reason for being was as the devoted mother of her four sons: Mack, Darron, Darius, and Daniel. She always put her family first and her sons were the center of her life. She was a protective shield over her sons, teaching them right from wrong, providing for them spiritually and in material comforts, ensuring their health and happiness, and fiercely protecting them from harm. She moved through life on her own terms, always doing the best she could for her family. Christine loved her husband Render with all her heart and found true love and happiness in their union. She loved all of her family immensely - her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a true and loyal friend who made many lifelong friends who loved and treasured her. Throughout her life, all Christine wanted out of life was to love and be loved in return. She did and she was. She will forever dwell in the hearts of her family and friends. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Christine Treadwell Jackson is survived by her husband and companion of 45 years, Render Jackson; her loving and devoted sons Willie McArthur Owensby (Blondene) of Decatur, Georgia, Darron Owensby, Darius Jackson, and Daniel Jackson, all of Atlanta, Georgia; and her mother-in-law Veolia Jackson of Lagrange, Georgia. She is further survived by her loving siblings, Mildred Treadwell Heard of Roanoke, Alabama, William Treadwell (Ethel) of Roanoke, Alabama, Thomas Treadwell (Betty) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bessie Brown of Atlanta, Georgia, and Glenda Gilbert, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and sister-in-law Christine Johnson. As her enduring legacy, she leaves eight grandchildren: Crystal Owensby, Tomeika Owensby, Nikki Owensby, Kahry Watts, Artemas Pevine, Mackeius Owensby, Malikah Owensby and Nakaiyah Jackson; seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves a lifetime of loving memories for her nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends to cherish.
