Mr. Samuel Bell, Jr. age 58, a native of Randolph County, and resident of 6594 County Road 16, Roanoke, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Wedowee Hospital in Wedowee, Alabama.
Public viewing and visiting hours for Mr. Bell will be observed at the funeral home, on Friday, February 21, 2014, between the hours of 12:00 Noon and 6:00 PM. Mr. Bell will be in state at the church one hour prior to funeral services, which will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 O’Clock AM, at Wehadkee Missionary Baptist Church 1216 County Road 310, Roanoke, Alabama.
The Pastor, Reverend Elijah Jackson, Jr., will officiate, and burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery at Wehadkee Baptist Church, (Springfield Community), Roanoke, Alabama. Other ministers sharing the roster will include: Reverend L. B. Houston and Reverend Claude Bell.
THE OBITUARY
Brother Samuel Bell, Jr., was born in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama on May 17, 1955, to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bell, Sr. and Cora M. (Heard) Bell.
At an early age, he joined the Wehadkee Missionary Baptist Church in the Springfield Community in Roanoke, Alabama, where he remained a member until the Lord summoned him home, on this past Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Samuel attended Randolph County schools.
Perhaps his proudest achievement was his years of service in the United States Armed Forces, from September 12, 1979, until honorably discharged on May 30, 1992. During his years of service to our grateful nation, Samuel earned the rank of E5. During his enlistment, he completed courses of study in Leadership Development, Personnel Records Specialist, and Operation of Related Computer Systems. He was decorated with the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon.
Samuel united in marriage with the former Ms. Daphne Hill of Roanoke, Alabama. Their union gave rise to a daughter, Jazlyn Bell.
After his release from the military, Samuel held employment for many years in the manufacturing industry as battery plate installer.
Samuel was preceded in death by both his parents. Regrettably, Samuel Bell, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Wedowee Hospital in Wedowee, Alabama, bring a peaceful end to his 58-year walk with God.
Precious memories of Samuel Bell, Jr., a loving father, brother, nephew and friend will linger in the hearts of those he leaves behind forever: his beloved former wife Mrs. Daphne Hill Alexander of Columbus, Georgia; his daughter, Jazlyn Bell of Columbus, Georgia; two (2) brothers: William Tatum (Mary Sue) of Roanoke, Alabama, and Jimmy Tatum (Carolyn) of Williamsburg, Virginia; one (1) uncle, Reverend Myris L. Bell (Antonia) of Roanoke, Alabama; two (2) aunts: Eva Lewis of Tampa, Florida; and Ella Newman of Pineville, Louisiana; and finally a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends. .
