Mr. Odell Trammell, age 68, a native of Roanoke, Alabama, and long-time resident of 461 Avenue “A” Roanoke, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his residence in Roanoke.
Public Visitation and viewing for Mr. Trammell will be observed on Friday, March 22, between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm
Mr. Trammell will be in state one hour prior to funeral services, which are scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the First United Methodist Church, 806 Main Street, Roanoke, Alabama, with Reverend L.B. Houston officiating.
Burial will follow in the New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 7419 County Road 158, LaFayette Alabama 36862.
The Obituary
Mr. Odell Trammell was born on September 25, 1944 in Chambers County, Alabama to the late Adolphus and Mary Bell (Turner) Trammell. At an early age, he joined the New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church, where his family had very strong roots, in the Clacksville Community. He served as a Deacon at New Harmony, and remained a faithful member there throughout his life.
Odell grew up and attended school at the Randolph County Training School in Roanoke. He quit school at an early age to go to work, but later returned to get his GED. He worked at Franklin Aluminum for over 30 years and could do almost any job in the factory. He finally retired after serving as a supervisor for many years. Odell will be well remembered for his love of fishing, rabbit hunting, and being a all-around outdoorsman. Mr. Odell also collected guns and other collectibles, and ran a scrap metal and recycling business.
He united in marriage with the late Rosie Lee McPherson.
He was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Calvin and Lawson Trammell; and one sister, Lena Mae Trammell.
Mr. Trammell departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at his residence in the historic East Roanoke community at the age of 68.
Mr. Trammell is survived by his two (2) daughters, Mrs. Bobbie Holliday of Roanoke, Alabama, and Ms. Bertha Ogletree of LaGrange, Georgia; three (3) grandchildren: Derrick Trammell (Andrea) of LaGrange, Georgia, Quaunisha Trammell of LaGrange, Georgia, and Tacorey Trammell of Roanoke, Alabama; four (4) great-grandchildren: Kiara Owens, Aniya Trammell, Kingston Trammell, and Zymir Trammell all of LaGrange, Georgia; three (3) brothers: Reverend Leonard "Ben" Trammell (Annie Dora), Reverend William H. Trammell (Christine) and Adolphus Trammell (Melmer) all of Roanoke, Alabama; two (2) sisters: Dora Hildreth and Bernice Trammell both of Elyria, Ohio; seven (7) sisters-in-law: Doris Trammell, Pearl Trammell, and Minnie B. Bell (Reverend Brady D. Bell) all of Roanoke, Alabama; Charlotte Parker of Wedowee, Alabama; Linda Jackson (Cliff) and Nina Mae Hardnett (Vernon) both of LaFayette, Alabama and Alice Norwood of Atlanta, Georgia; two special friends: Carrie Ethel Jones, and long-time neighbor Ella Lee Hill both of Roanoke, Alabama. Lastly, there are a large number of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends throughout the community.
Pall Bearers will be Nephews: They include: Derrick Trammell, David Hill, Mike Trammell, Wayne Trammell, Cedrick Trammell, Sylvester Trammell, Patrick Trammell, Albrandoes Trammell, and Quandale Trammell
