The Obituary

Michael Bernard Holley was born in Franklin, Heard County, Georgia on March 11, 1958 to the parentage of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Clyde and Mable (Heard) Holley. The only child born to the Holleys, Michael grew up and attended schools in Roanoke, Alabama, where at a very early age, he joined the St. Paul Baptist Church in Roanoke. He remained a member of Saint Paul until death demanded an answer to God's recent call from labor to reward.

Michael completed his high school education at Handley High School, graduating in 1976. After high school, he attended Jacksonville State University. Embracing Omega's principles of "Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift" Michael found other young men similarly grounded, for whom these same principles would serve to bind them together as brothers, life long friends, and comrades, he pledged Theta Eta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Their rallying cry "Theta Eta, No Place Greater!" became both a familiar and sacred source of inspiration. This would prove to be one of the greatest associations of his life. As Michael grew into manhood and grace he also developed his skill as a gifted poet.

After Jacksonville, Michael served our grateful nation in the United States Air Force, where he became a security specialist. As a member of the United States Air Force, Michael was decorated with the Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and The Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on December 12, 1983.

Known as "Hollywood" by his closest friends and loved ones, upon his return home, Michael worked as a machine operator in the textile industry.

On September 27, 1986, Michael married the love of his life, Miss Tammi Treadwell. Their union was blessed by the birth of their daughter, Tonya, and son, Tevin. Michael was a loving and devoted son, a wonderful husband, companion, father and role model for his children.

On March 4, 2015, a divine transaction took place when Michael Holley exchanged this transitory life and a fleeting world for immortal rest. He was at his residence on Country Club Road, in Roanoke, Alabama.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, friend and most respected member of our community, Michael Bernard Holley was loved, supported, and will be deeply missed by many, but none more than those closest to him with whom he journeyed through life. They include his wife, Mrs. Tammi Treadwell Holley of Roanoke, Alabama; his daughter Tonya Treadwell and son Tevin Holley; grandsons: Tyrik, Tydrick, and Taylon Omar Treadwell; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Clyde and Mabel Holley; father-and-mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William and Ethel Treadwell; sister-in-law, Sonya Treadwell Nolan (Robert); two (2) brothers-in-law: Chris Treadwell (Angel) and Jeffery Treadwell all of Roanoke, Alabama; one (1) aunt, Sarah Clark (Toby) of Stanford, Connecticut; his Omega Psi Phi brothers; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
