Mr. Michael Hines Obituary

Mr. Michael Hines, 54, a resident of 108 Banks Street, LaGrange, Georgia [a native and former resident of Roanoke, Alabama], passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Hospice LaGrange, LaGrange, Georgia after an extended illness.

Public viewing and visiting hours for Mr. Hines will be observed on Thursday, November 14, 2013 between the hours of 12:00 NOON and 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Hines will be in state for one hour at the church on the day of funeral services.

The Celebration of Life for Mr. Michael Hines will be observed on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 12:00 O'Clock NOON from New Life Worship Center, 305 Handley Avenue, Roanoke, Alabama, with the pastor, Bishop Lathonia Wright, serving as Eulogist. Bishop Tom Staples will officiate. Other ministers sharing the roster will include: Reverend L.B. Houston, Minister Charlie Rowland, Pastor Mark Davenport.

Burial will follow in Skyview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Welch, Alabama.

THE OBITUARY

Mr. Michael Hines was born at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia on August 3, 1959 to the parentage of the late Leroy and Hazel (Smith) Hines.

His early education began at Hawthorne Elementary School in Smyrna, Georgia. In 1973, his family relocated to Roanoke, Alabama where he joined East Roanoke Pure Holiness Church of God and received his religious education as a youth.

He spent the remainder of his youth in Roanoke, where he grew up and and graduated from Handley High School with the Class of 1978. After high school, Michael attended Auburn University for one (1) year.

Michael was a gifted artist, and also was very skillful as a handyman, performing all kinds of odd jobs. So, while in Roanoke, he worked all over town, doing odd jobs until he relocated to LaGrange. These were his God-given talents. After relocating to LaGrange, Georgia, he worked in the Shipping and Receiving Department at Wal Mart until his health failed. Michael was a zealous fan of Auburn Football. Michael joined City Light Church, in LaGrange, (Pastor Mark Davenport), where he remained a member until his passing.

Both Michael’s parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Hines, and a brother, Alan Lee Hines, preceded him to heaven. He completed his life’s journey on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Hospice LaGrange, in LaGrange, Georgia bringing a victorious end to a long battle with extended illness.

Michael is survived by: a loving and devoted brother, Reverend Billy Paul Hines (Jeanette) of Stockton, Georgia; an adopted sister, Elisha Smith of Roanoke, Alabama; a beloved aunt, Elnora Tucker of Roanoke, Alabama; three (3) special nieces: Shurette Hines and Shalet Hines both of Roanoke, Alabama, Keticia Hunt of Birmingham, Alabam two (2) great nieces: Kanora Hunt and Kadasia Hunt both of Birmingham, Alabama ; one (1) great nephew, Cameron Donaldson of Stockton, Georgia; a host of nieces nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.
