Deacon Marion Clinton Williams, age 77, a resident of 1587 County Road 310, Roanoke, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Roanoke Health Care Center, 680 Seymour Drive, in Roanoke.
Public Viewing and Visiting Hours for the late Mr. Williams will be observed on Monday, May 20, 2013 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. At the funeral home.
Mr. Williams will arrive at the Wehadkee Missionary Baptist Church, 1216 County Road 310, Roanoke, Alabama on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 where he will be instate from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
Funeral Services for the late Mr. Marion Williams will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 11:00 O'Clock AM from Wehadkee Missionary Baptist Church, 1216 County Road 310, Roanoke, Alabama with the Pastor, Reverend Elijah Jackson, Jr., Reverend Claude Bell, Reverend Charlie Garrett and Reverend John Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining Church Cemetery immediately after the services.
THE OBITUARY
Marion Clinton Williams was born January 7, 1936 in St. Petersburg, Florida to the parentage of the late Mr. Otis Williams and Mrs. Emma Lou Young Williams. On Thursday, May 16, 2013 his soul returned to God.
At an early age Marion joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida where he served on the Usher Board and sang in the choir.
He attended Gibbs Senior High School in St. Petersburg, FL where he was an honor student and member of the Saint Celica Choir. It was during this time that Marion developed his passion for music and singing. Marion graduated with the Class of 1953. After high school, he served a short time in the US Air Force.
During his lifetime Marion united in marriage with Dorothy Lightfoot Williams, Sylvia and Mary (both deceased) and finally Lelar Foster Williams. His yeuars with Dorothy Lightfoot Williams gave rise to the birth of two children: a son, Climmie and daughter, Valencia. His years with Lelar Foster Williams
gave rise to the birth of three children: one son, Patrick, and two daughters: Roshelle and Tamela.
Marion worked in many different fields, serving as a school bus driver, truck driver, and salesman. Later in life he established a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
In 2008, Marion relocated to Roanoke, Alabama and joined Wehadkeee Missionary Baptist Church where he attended Sunday school, bible study, and worship service faithfully. He also sang in the choir until his health declined.
Marion departed this life on May 16, 2013. He leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters Valencia Tanner (Wyman) of Homestead Florida, Roshelle Peak of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Tamela Richardson of Norcross Georgia; 2 sons, Climmie Williams of Homestead, Florida, and Patrick Williams of Roanoke, Alabama, 10 grand kids, and 9 great grands; special cousin Jane Thomas and Uncle Elbert Young, Jr.
