At an early age, Lim joined Mount Olive Methodist Church in Wadley, where he faithfully served as an Usher and Trustee. Lim remained a faithful member of Mount Olive throughout life. As he entered his senior years he was compelled to limit his activities.

After his discharge from the military, he found his niche in the construction industry as a brick mason. Lim also worked for the County, and also as a School Bus Driver for the Randolph County Training School.
He united in marriage with Miss Laverne Knight. Their union was blessed with two sons and two daughters.
