Mr. Joe Lewis Houston

Joe Lewis Houston was born on May 5, 1940 in Randolph County, Alabama to the parentage of the late Charlie and Goldie (Wright) Houston. At an early age, he joined Friendship Baptist Church in the Broughton Community, Wadley, Alabama.

He married Catherine Stone Houston in Randolph County, Alabama. Their union was blessed with four children: including two (2) sons and two (2) daughters.

After more than 30 years, Joe retired from C.L. Cook Construction Company in Atlanta. While employed with Cook Construction, he worked as a heavy equipment operator and carpenter.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Goldie (Wright) Houston; his wife, Catherine (Stone) Houston; three (3) brothers: James, John Robert and Charlie William Houston; two (2) sisters: Maggie Roundtree and Lou Nora Hunter.

Joe's life, legacy and beautiful memories of the loving father that he was -- will forever dwell in the hearts and minds of his progeny which includes: three (3) daughters: Jeanette Houston Watts (Curtis) and Lillie Bailey both of Wedowee, AL, and Joanne Houston of Atlanta, GA; four (4) sons: Joe Lewis Houston, Jr. (Sandra), and Donald Wayne Houston (Nellie) of Wedowee, Crushun and Joseph Houston both of Atlanta, GA; three (3) sisters: Mary Joyce Houston, Joann Strickland and Lovie Jean Morgan; one (1) brother, Fred Junior Houston; ten (10) grandchildren; thirty-four (34) great grandchildren; several in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
