In Loving Memory Of Jimmy Stone
Jimmy Stone was born in Randolph County, Alabama on January 19, 1947 to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.B. and Katie (Heath) Stone. He was one of six children born to this parentage: three sons and three daughters.
As a youth, he joined Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Wedowee, where he remained a member until his homegoing. As a youth, he also became enamored with Miss Jessie Pearl Watkins, who became his Domestic Partner. They remained together for more than 30 years, until her passing.
All of his life, Jimmy engaged in farming. Jimmy is how we define a "Real Outdoorsman" because he filled his life with any-and-everything that would allow him to get as much outdoor time as possible through deer hunting, cycling, fishing, farming, horseback riding and many other activities. He could grow huge crops, watermelons, and cabbages. His hunting efforts always yielded a big return. He enjoyed farm animals. From time to time, the family would have "Pasture Parties" and Jimmy enjoyed working with the children, helping them ride the horses and learn not to be afraid. In addition to his sporting pasttimes, he worked for Yellow Dirt in Franklin, Georgia, retiring after 25 years.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Katie Stone; domestic partner, Jessie Pearl Watkins; two brothers, Jessie Lee Stone and Joe Bob Stone; and two daughters. He swiftly and unexpectedly departed this life on Friday, December 16, 2016 at his residence in Roanoke, (Rock Mills), Alabama.
His cherished legacy includes four daughters: Melissa Elam, Greta Houston, and Phillissa Stone all of Atlanta, Georgia, and Dorine Knight of Woodland, Alabama; three sisters: Catherine Houston and Betty Sims of Wedowee, Alabama, and Irene Hudson of Roanoke, Alabama; eleven grandchildren: Zakayuah Elam, Antonio Elam, MaLyah Elam, Steven Houston, Toriona Hendrix, Demetrius Stone, Dontaybious Stone, Amir Stone, Shaquanna Prothro, and Brian Knight; four great grandchildren: Lashae Knight, Keshuna Prothro, Randy Weavver, and Zamaya Few; one aunt, Lorraine Gooden of Anniston, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, great friends, and other loving relatives.
