With deepest regret, we announce the passing from this life of Mr. Jerry Allen, Jr., age 73, a resident of 234 Gulf Street, Roanoke, Alabama. Mr. Allen transitioned from this life on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Tanner Medical Center, Carrollton, Georgia.
Public Visitation and viewing hours for Mr. Allen will be observed on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm., here at the funeral home. The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm on Sunday afternoon. After that time, Mr. Allen will remain available for viewing until 6:00 pm.
Mr. Allen was born December 9, 1944 in Roanoke, Alabama to the parentage of the late Jerry Allen, Sr., and Adell McCurty Allen. He worked in the carpet manufacturing industry at Mohawk Industries for more than 30 years. One of the joys of his life was fishing.
On June 6, 1965, he married Miss Leola Shears. Their marriage gave rise to two daughters, Donna and Angela, and four grandchildren.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by both of his parents, the late Jerry Allen, Sr., and Adell McCurty Allen; brothers: Jim Allen, Lewis Allen, Limp Allen, Dimp Allen, Eddie Allen; and sisters: Lula Mae Walker and Pinkie Allen.
Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to Mr. Allen's entire family which includes his wife, Mrs. Leola Allen of Roanoke, Alabama; three (3) daughters: Donna Nolan (Windell) and Angela Wilson (Michael), and Christine Staples (Herbert) all of Roanoke, Alabama; three (3) sons: Jerry Greathouse (Tameka) of Huntsville, Texas, Nathaniel Greathouse (Samantha) of Montgomery, Alabama, and Shekia Paige of Roanoke, Alabama; twenty-one (21) grandchildren including: Windell John Nolan, Jr., William Jay Nolan, Michael Travon Wilson, Jr., Aliyah Wilson, Timothy Treadwell, Semequia Greathouse, Americus Greathouse, Chase Greathouse, Herbert Staples, Jr., Joya Staples, Nanesha Greathouse, Audreyuna Greathouse, Trevon Greathouse, Xavier Greathouse, A'eriona Mitchell, Cu'darian Mitchell, Sa'maya Mitchell, Na'riyah Mitchell, Shekevion Paige and finally but not least, Shakeriana Paige; one (1) brother, Joe Allen of Elmore, Alabama; three (3) sisters: Hattie Mae Clark and Betty Foster of Roanoke, Alabama, and Dessie Mae McCowan of Sugarland, Texas; a very special niece and caregiver, Wanda Walker of Roanoke, Alabama; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
