In Loving Memory Of Frank Curtis Wright

Mr. Frank Curtis Wright was born on January 17, 1928, in Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio, to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Burgess Wright, and Mary Will (Pinkard) Wright.

After a long productive 90 years of diligent leadership and disciplined labor in the vineyard of Randolph County, God released Frank from his earthly cares, and took him to a well-deserved season of rest.

His family of origin included eleven (11) siblings -- four who preceded him in death: James "Jack" Wright, John B. Wright, Jr., Nora Brady, and Yvonne Davis. At an early age, the family joined the Friendship Baptist Church in the Broughton Community, where he distinguished himself as a dedicated servant of God. He served Friendship as Treasurer, Chairman of the Cemetery Committee, Chairman of the Deacon Board, member of the choir, and public speaker.

He was an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Navy, having served one (1) year, ten (10) months and five (5) days.

Frank grew up in Randolph County, Alabama, where he began working at age 18. The love of his life was the late Ruthie Lee Houston. They married on May 20, 1950, in the Broughton Community, and remained faithfully wed until her homegoing in 2009. Their union was blessed by the birth of three wonderful children-- Marie, Frank, Jr., and Lewis. For the next 70 or more years, he would be known and loved by all for his industriousness in the province of Education, Agriculture, public service, and religion.

He will probably be best known and remembered as one of Randolph County's formidable African-American Educators. The majority of his time as an Educator was served in Wadley, Alabama at Pleasant Grove Elementary School. This was one of many church schools scattered throughout the county. He served the Randolph County Board of Education as a Principal, Teacher and School Bus driver. During his tenure as an educator, he worked with the Upward Bound program.

Even after his retirement from the Education industry, he continued to work throughout his retirement, as a farmer, cement finisher, and an employee of Transco Gas Corportion. He also boased the unusual ability to sense where people desiring to dig water wells, were most likely to find water. He devoted about 12 years serving as the chairman of the Randolph County Board of Registrars, manning the voter registration office at the courthouse in Wedowee.

Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy is extended to the entire Wright family including his daughter, Marie Henson (Lorenzo) of Wedowee, Alabama; two (2) sons: Frank Wright, Jr. also of Wedowee, Alabama, and Lewis Wright (Sylvia Henning) of Anniston, Alabama; six (6) grandchildren: LoRandy Henson, David & Daniel Mead, John L. Wright, Robert Tittle, and a special Granddaughter, Carie Singleton; five (5) great-grandchildren: Gianna Henson, Maikol Morales, Halle Mead, Brylie Mead, Ryat Mead; three (3) brothers: Anthony G. Wright (Louise), Clarence Wright, and Linnie Wright, all of Michigan; and (3) sisters: Mattie Terrell of Goldsboro, NC, Virginia C. Jones, and Lovelle Crowder (Willie) of Atlanta, Gerogia; two (2) brothers-in-law: three (3) brothers-in-law: Johnny Houston (Ethel) and Lenny Wayne Houston (Gwendolyn), Guy Houston; and one (1) sister-in-law, Freddie Weaver of Wedowee, Alabama; and a great host of beloved nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
