The Obituary

Christopher Lee Shears was born on September 24, 1982 in Roanoke, Alabama to the parentage of (the former Mr. and Mrs.) Lester and Betty (Spratling) Shears.

Chris was a graduate of the Handley High School Class of 2001, where he enjoyed the distinction of being a proud member of the Handley High School Marching Band.

Early in life, Chris joined the Cogar Hill CME Church in Daviston, Alabama. He later joined New Life Worship Center on Roanoke, Alabama.

Chris started working at the young age of thirteen. His first job was washing hair in Demain Simpson’s Hair Salon, a position he held for a short time before moving on to the local Mexican restaurant. Later, he worked at Just For You Flower Shop, Terry Manufacturing Company, and finally the Roanoke Wendy's Restaurant, where he advanced to the position of Assistant Manager. He also held employment at Plantation Patterns in Wadley.

In 2006, Chris relocated to Grambling, Louisiana with his God Sister Jacqueline “KoKo” Johnson. There, he landed a job at Wendy's, where he worked until the time of his home-going.

Everyone who knew and loved Chris will remember him as a popular young man who was hard-working and had a heart as big as life itself.

Only five (5) days before he would have celebrated his 31st birthday, Chris departed this life on a beautiful Wednesday morning September 18, 2013 at LSU Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.
