Bradford Cofield was born in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama, October 23, 1949 to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nimmie and Rosie (Strong) Cofield.
At an early age, he joined the family Church, Bethlehem Baptist Church, Standing Rock, Alabama, and remained connected thereto throughout his life.
Bradford grew up in the Welch community, and graduated in 1968, from Five Points High School under Principal George E. Chapman. Upon graduation from Five Points High School, Bradford along with his best friend, Athan Staples, (and others) were among the first black students to attend Southern Union State Community College in Wadley, Alabama.
In the mid-1970's Bradford wed the former Miss Linda Thornton of Roanoke, and their union gave rise to two daughters. Embracing his step-son, the end result of this union was a loving and devoted blended family. The family migrated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he lived for more than 41 years. While residing in the Atlanta area, Bradford worked as a Technician for Kellogg's for more than 25 years. During his residency in Atlanta, he occasionally enjoyed attending worship services at Word Of Faith Ministries, and Israel Of God.
Bradford was preceded in death by an infant sibling, his parents, several beloved aunts, and uncles, and two grandchildren. He transitioned from this life on Wednesday morning, September 28, 2016, at Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit in Duluth, Georgia.
He is survived by three children: daughters Niya Lee-Ontre Cofield, Lydia Rashika De'sha Cofield, and step-son, Scott LaSalle Parker; his former spouse, who remained faithful in assisting with his care, Mrs. Linda Thornton Cofield De Souza, all of whom reside in the Atlanta area; one aunt, a former resident of Chambers County, Mrs. Marie Collier, presently residing in Anniston, Alabama; His former caretaker, Betty Clark of Atlanta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; a host of beloved cousins; many other loving relatives and friends.
