In Loving Memory Of Marcus Anthony "Marc D" Lewis

With profound sorrow and heartfelt love, we announce the passing of Mr. Marcus Anthony "Marc D" Lewis, age 50, of Jonesboro, Georgia, formerly of Roanoke, Alabama, who departed this life on June 2, 2026.

Marcus was born on February 26, 1976, to the loving union of the late Jerome "Red Bone" Lewis and Mrs. Helen (Phillips) Lewis. Raised with strong family values and a deep appreciation for life, Marcus grew into a man whose presence could light up a room and whose loyalty to those he loved knew no limits.

Known affectionately by many as "Marc D," Marcus was a dreamer, entrepreneur, music enthusiast, and creative spirit. His love for rap music inspired him to establish "Out-Da-Gate" Records, a venture through which he sought to encourage, promote, and support aspiring artists. Music was more than entertainment to Marcus—it was a language of expression, connection, and hope.

Marcus grew up attending Rehope Baptist Church, LaFayette, where he received his early spiritual guidance. He was a proud graduate of the 1995 graduating class of Handley High School, Roanoke, where he distinguished himself as an outstanding varsity football star athlete.

Beyond music, Marcus possessed a passion for restoring classic automobiles. He enjoyed finding old-school cars and bringing them back to life, taking pride in their beauty and craftsmanship. He was also a devoted Alabama Crimson Tide football fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved team. Those who knew Marcus also knew his keen sense of style; he carried himself with confidence, always looking sharp and making a statement wherever he went.

Of all the things Marcus treasured, nothing compared to his love for family. His greatest joy came from protecting, supporting, and spending time with those closest to him. He cherished his mother, children, siblings, grandparents, nieces, nephews, and extended family with unwavering devotion. His love was genuine, his generosity was sincere, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Marcus was preceded in death by his father, the late Jerome "Redbone" Lewis; brother Jason Jerome Lewis; great-grandmother, Mrs. Willie Pinky Lewis all of Roanoke, AL. 

Marcus leaves to cherish his precious memories his beloved mother, Helen (Phillips) Lewis of Roanoke, Alabama; his devoted companion, Shakira Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia; four children: Zykevia Lemon of Atlanta, Georgia; Jamarcus Calloway of Roanoke, Alabama; Zacchaeus Lane of Roanoke, Alabama; and Messiah Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia.

He is also survived by his siblings: Mycquail Antowain Lewis, Sonya Markeece Lewis Whitlow (Londeria), Jamie Jerome Lewis, Corie Matthew Lewis, Derrick Ramsey Lewis, and Zikaya McCowan, along with numerous other brothers and sisters whom he loved dearly.

Marcus further leaves two cherished grandmothers, Mrs. Audrey Phillips Owens and Mrs. Willie Pearl McGrant, together with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, lifelong friends, and countless individuals whose lives were enriched by his friendship, laughter, and love.

Today, while our hearts are heavy with grief, we celebrate a life that touched many. Though his journey ended far too soon, the memories Marcus created, the love he shared, the music he embraced, and the lives he influenced will remain forever etched in our hearts.

"Marc D" may have laid down the microphone, but the echoes of his love, his laughter, and his legacy will continue to play in the hearts of those who loved him.

"To every family member and friend whose heart aches today, may you find comfort in the memories you shared, strength in one another, and peace in knowing that Marcus's life mattered, his love was real, and his memory will forever remain a treasured part of your lives."
