Lula Walker Obituary

With deepest regret, we announce the passing from this life of Mrs. Lula Mae Allen Walker, 69, a resident of 459 County Rd. 79 Apt 403 Roanoke, Alabama, at her residence in Roanoke.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Lula Mae Allen Walker were held from the New Beginning Outreach Ministry, on Saturday, Janaury 2, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. with the pastor, Bishop Tom Staples, Jr., Officiating.

Mrs. Lula Mae Allen Walker was born to the late Jerry Allen, Sr. and Adell McCurty Allen on October 15, 1946.

She attended Randoph County Training School; and later attending the Hawkeye Institute of Technology.

Lula was united in marriage with the late Albert Walker on May 15, 1970, and resided with him, in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1984, she returned to Roanoke, and began her membership at East Roanoke Church of God under the leadershipo of the late Bishop Wade Wright.

In the late 1980's, Lula started singing with the Christian Travelers. In 2004, she joined New Beginning Outreach Ministry, PHC under the leadership of Pastor Tom Staples, where she served on the Mother Board. She was called home to glory on December 24, 2015 at her home in Roanoke, while under the care of Southern Care Hospice, Alexander City, Alabama.

Lula was preceded in death by both her parents, Jerry & Adell Allen; two (2) grandsons, Michael Walker and Demetrie McGuire; five (5) brothers: Jim, Lewis, Limp, Dimp, and Eddie Allen; one (1) sister, Pinkie Allen, and a special friend, Mary Pope.

Lula is survived by two daughters: Talitha Jones (Calvin) and Wanda Peoples (Hardy); four (4) grandchildren: Jasmine Walker, James Williams (Amber); Brandall Walker and Indian Walker; three (3) great grandchildren: JaKaiden Williams, Brentlon D. Walker and Noah Williams; three sisters: Hattie Clark and Betty Foster, of Roanoke, Alabama, and Dessie McCowan of Sugarland, TX; two (2) brothers, Jerry Allen, Jr. of Roanoke, Alabama and Joe L. Allen of Elmore, Alabama; three (3) God daughters: Twila Houston, Evelyn Staples, and Cassandra Hairston; and four (4) close friends; Mary Hairston, Dollie Morgan, Maggie Hill, and Gayle Heath.
