Ms. Lera Wright was one of eight children born in Wedowee, Alabama to the parentage of the late Anthony and Velma (Houston) Wright, on September 13, 1936. At an early age, she confessed Christ, and joined Friendship Baptist Church in the Broughton community. Lera served her church faithfully until declining health compelled her to limit her activities. She married Mr. William Thomas Robertson, with whom she remained faithfully wed for more than 62 years. Their marriage blossomed into a loving family of seven (7) children.
Ms. Lera was an avid seamstress, who found her place in the clothing manufacturing industry. During her lifetime, she held employment at Sewell, Stephanie Fashions, and Rolane. She loved quilting and was part of a quilting club. Another activity she really loved was fishing.
Lera was preceded in death by four of her seven siblings-- three (3) brothers and one (1) sister: James Wright, Jimmy Wright, William "Ham" Wright and Minnie Ethel Goodwin. Last week, God in his infinite wisdom arranged for a divine reunion with her mother, father, and her departed siblings on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at The Roanoke Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Roanoke.
Though she is physically absent from the body, there are still those of us who will hold fast to the great memories she made with us: her husband, William Thomas Robertson of Roanoke, AL; three (3) sons: William T. Wright (Linda) of Columbus, GA; Stanley Robertson (Robin) of Anniston, AL, and Lamar Wright (Sherrie) of Birmingham, AL; two (2) daughters: Betty Calloway (David) and Melinda Nelson (Henry) both of Wedowee, AL; two (2) step-children: Nasser Saddler and Annette Saddler, both of Cleveland, OH; three (3) brothers: Anthony Wright, Jr., David Wright (Queen Ethel) both of Wedowee, AL, and Charles Wright (Marlene) of Roanoke, AL; one (1) sister, Betty Barsh of Wedowee, AL; thirteen (13) grandchildren; twenty-two (22) great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Kimberly Felicia Callaway, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
