With our deepest heartfelt sympathy we inform you of the passing from this life of Ms. Laverne Allen, 62, a resident of 1404 Satterwhite Street, Roanoke, Alabama. Ms. Allen transitioned from this life on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at her residence in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama.
Our beloved mother, Ms. Laverne Jackson Allen was born in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama on April 14, 1958, to the parentage of the late Willie Jackson, and Barbara Gene (Bennett) Daniel. She grew up in Birmingham, graduating from A. H. Parker High School ─ "Home of the Thundering Herd" where the Mighty Bison is school Mascot ─ Class of 1977. After graduation from high school, she attended Booker T. Washington Business College.
She united in marriage to Mr. Stafford Allen from Roanoke. They were blessed with three children: a daughter, Stephanie and sons: Stafford, Jr. and Carlos.
The family made their home here in Roanoke, Alabama, where she raised her children, made many good friends, and became known for her beautiful hair braiding skills, her peanut brittle candy-making and last but not least, for being a huge Auburn fan. Throughout her life as a mom, Laverne was confronted with multiple challenges, but she met those challenges with all the ferocity of a mama lion caring for her cubs.
Laverne transitioned from this life on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at her home in Roanoke, Alabama. After walking with the Lord for 62 years, she has left to join hands with (her mother) Jean Bennett Daniel, her father, Willie Jackson; two sisters and one brother; her grandmother and grandfather, mother-in-law Luree (Woodgett) Allen; father-in-law, Rocelius Allen; sister-in-law, Marsha Allen; brother-in-law, Rocelius Allen, Jr., sisters: Gwendolyn Beverly aka "Missy" and Katie Mae Bennett; brother: Richard Daniel, and a special friend, Freda Ester Lindsey.
It is sad to say Laverne leaves to mourn her passing: her daughter, Stephanie Allen of Columbus, GA; sons: Stafford Morelle Allen and Carlos Maurice Allen of Roanoke, AL; six (6) grandchildren: Shavar Holliday, Concepcion Flores, Fernada Flores, Francisca Flores, Fernando Flores of Roanoke, AL, and Amina Pheniese Allen of Lanett, AL; five (5) great-grandchildren: Jayden Holliday, Kimani Holliday, Makenzie Holliday, Karter Morgan, and Kaidence Reign Holliday; sisters: Linda Smith and Debra Williams (Michael) both of Birmingham, AL; former husband, Stafford Allen of Roanoke, AL; five (5) beloved brothers-in-law: Stanley Allen (Patricia) of Roanoke, AL, Darrell Allen (Alice) of Auburn, AL, Reverend Lamar Allen (Pamela) of Dallas, GA, Reginald Allen of LaGrange, GA, and Ronald Allen of Birmingham, AL; three (3) beloved sisters-in-law: Vanessa Carlisle (Sylvester), of Roanoke, AL, Ruth Lyons (Randolph) of Opelika, AL, and Cassandra Allen of Birmingham, AL; special nephews: Torry Carlisle and Christopher Allen both of Roanoke, AL; special friends of the family: Glenn and Marvin Lindsey, Marshall Spence and Lois Bell; her best friend of thirty-plus years, Faye and Tim Sutton; close friend: Edna Blake, Sandra McCloud --who was there until the end; and many other loving relatives and friends.
