In Loving Memory Of Kenny Baker
Sunrise: August 2, 1938 + Sunset: August 15, 2018
Kenny Baker was born August 2, 1938 in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama, to the parentage of the late Jack and Susie (Ware) Baker. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL. Affectly called "TK", he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother uncle and cousin -- beloved and deeply missed by his entire family.
On April 16, 1960 Kenny married the love of his life, Miss Genelle Goode. They remained faithfully wed -- keeping the wedding promise -- until death. Their marriage was blessed by the birth of five (5) wonderful children whom God blessed Kenny to see grow into full adulthood.
At an early age, Kenny joined Hunters Chapel Methodist Church in the Springfield community. But, the church was condemmed, so in later years, he joined Wehadkee Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend Elijah Jackson, Jr., and remained a faithful member until death.
He started working very early in life. As a teenager he went out with his older brothers and did construction jobs. Later on, he went into the textile industry where he made his career. He held employment at Handley Mills, Wehadkee Yarn Mills, and later, Amoco Fabrics and Fibers. In all, he gave 48 to 50 years of his life working in the textile industry.
In addition to his father and mother (Jack and Susie Baker) "TK" was preceded in death by the following siblings: Lillie Mae Thornton, Robert Baker, Willie Lee Baker, George Washington Baker, Jim Frank Baker, Mattie Wilkerson, Will Edward Baker, Robert T. Baker and Charlie Will Baker, and Bernice Mae Baker.
Loving memories of "TK" will continue to be cherished by his devoted wife of 58 years, Genelle Baker of Roanoke AL; five (5) children: Kenneth Baker, Judy Baker Taylor (Bobby), and Brenetta Tucker of Roanoke, AL; Sendy Baker (Donna) of Birmingham AL; and Jeffery Baker (Annette) of Atlanta GA; one (1) brother, Eddie Ben Baker of Roanoke AL; four (4) sisters: Georgia Lizzie Holliman, Ora Bell Bailey, Ora Lee Chatman, and Annie Sue Gooden all of Atlanta GA; eight (8) grandchildren; four (4) step-grandchildren; ten (10) great grandchildren; a great host of nieces and nephews and many cousins and extended family other loving relatives and friends.
