Kenneth Johnson Obituary

With our deepest and heartfelt sympathy, we advise you of the passing from this life of Mr. Kenneth Johnson, 47, a resident of 151 Jackson Street, Roanoke, Alabama.  Mr. Johnson transitioned from this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Northeast Regional Medical Center, Anniston, Calhoun County, Alabama.

An avid collector and Pitbull fancier, Kenneth was born September 10, 1972, in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama to the parentage of the late Mrs. Melvinnie Ware Johnson and the late Mr. Roy Finch.  He grew up in the East Roanoke community and attended both Roanoke City Schools and Wadley High School.

At an early age, Kenneth joined First Baptist Church, where he remained a life-long member.  Growing up in Roanoke, he learned how to work hard and keep a job, to make his way in life.  He was employed for three-and-a-half years at Russell Do It Center, where he worked as a truck driver. He also worked for Relintless building reels. He devoted seven-and-a-half years to JAC Products in Franklin, Georgia, and True Customs by Wayne (Fine Cabinets) was his last employer.  Kenneth was a family man and got a lot of enjoyment whenever he could spend time with the family.  Any time that Kenneth wasn't working, he also busied himself with his hobbies: fishing, collecting, and dogs -- breeding Pitbulls.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Melvinnie Ware Johnson; two brothers, Derrick Johnson and Perry Ware (Mrs. Bernice Ware of Akron, OH); sisters Phyllis Johnson McCray, and Johnnie McCory (Curtis McCory of Smith Station, AL); and a brother-in-law, Joe McCray.  At the still-youthful age of 47, Kenneth's transition was hastened by an insidious illness that swiftly overtook and ultimately claimed his life. Despite his courageous effort to overcome it, surrounded by family, he surrendered on Wednesday evening, February 12 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Alabama.

Celebrating his life, mourning his departure, and cherishing many loving memories are his beloved sons, Damon Johnson (Shanna) of Villa Rica, GA and Kadarious Foster of Roanoke, AL;  three daughters: Lameka McCray, and twin girls, Kanisha and Anisha Johnson all of Roanoke, AL;  three grandchildren: Ziare Foster and Arianne Foster of Roanoke, AL; and Niabi Johnson of Villa Rica, GA; a special friend, LaTonya, Hughley of Anniston, AL; two brothers, Tracy Johnson and Leroy Finch; and one sister, Debbie Johnson (Reginald McClendon) of Roanoke, Alabama; a special niece, Melanie Robertson also of Roanoke, AL; a finally but not least, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other loving relatives and friends.
