Kathryn Tucker Obituary

It is with very heavy hearts that the Tucker, Foster, and Weaver families of the historic east Roanoke community, must share the devastating news that our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and auntie, Kathryn Ann Tucker (72) has left us.  Kathryn was the very fabric that holds our family together; a strong —  kind — loving young woman whose passing from life has left a huge void in our hearts.  She was at Tanner Medical Center, East Alabama in Wedowee.  We now need your prayers as we struggle to take on this huge burden of grief.  Thank you in advance for the love and prayers.  We will share further details in the coming days.

In Loving Memory Of Mrs. Kathryn Ann Tucker

Miss Kathryn Ann Foster was born in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama on December 9, 1951, to the parentage of the late Eddie B. Foster and Annie Ruth (Smith) Foster.  Annie Ruth was the daughter of the late Jennie Mae Pool Smith and Alvin Smith   Kathryn was the product of the blending of two close families who were brought together by tragedy.  The two (2) families continued this journey together as one.  The result of this blending together was a sizable family tree.

She was a lifelong resident of the historic East Roanoke community, attending the Historic Randolph County Training School (R.C.T.S.), and Roanoke City Schools.  Kathryn was also a life-long member of the Deliverance Temple Church Of The Living God, in Roanoke, where she continued to worship and serve for the rest of her life.  For a short time, Kathryn worked in the healthcare industry at Traylor's Nursing Home, where she worked as a laundry aide.  Coming from a large family of people who enjoyed fishing and cooking, Kathryn enjoyed fishing and cooking too.   But, she loved most being a homemaker and raising the children and grandchildren she produced with her husband, Arthur...

In 1970, on February 5, Kathryn married the love of her life, Mr. Arthur Tucker, Sr., with whom she remained for fifty-four (54) years.  Their marriage gave rise to two (2) sons and two (2) daughters:  Annie Meadows (Benjamin), Arthur Tucker, Jr., Jerimiah Tucker all of Roanoke; and Cecily Foster of Anniston.

Kathryn's extensive family tree also includes ten (10) grandchildren: Malik Meadows, Asia Meadows, Montavious Meadows, Mason Lemands, Malichi Lemonds, Trenton Tucker, Jeremiah Tucker, Joshua Tucker, Dysheka Tucker and Jekerri Phillips; one (1) great-grandchild, Aiden Heard; and a special niece, Katherine Glenn, of Roanoke, Alabama.

The youngest of seven (7) children, Kathryn was preceded in death by four (4) brothers: Willie B. Foster, Charlie W. Foster, Robert Foster and Eddie B. (Bill) Foster; and one (1) sister, Mary Weaver.   Her surviving siblings include: Frankie White of Killeen, Texas, Tommy L. Weaver, and Charlie Joe Weaver both of Roanoke;  Jannie Longino of Atlanta, Ruby Thomas of Florida, Deloris Weaver and Lela Weaver both of Roanoke, Betty Weaver of Killeen, Texas, and Mary Foster of Lafayette.

Her six (6) sisters-in law and brothers-in-law include: Melinda Tucker, Byron Tucker, and Johnny Tucker of Roanoke; and Ingrid Tucker of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Eddie Tucker, and Willie Frank Tucker of Atlanta.

After walking with God, for over seventy-two (72) years, on last Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Kathryn took her last breath surrounded by her family.  She was at Tanner Medical Center — East Alabama in Wedowee.  And for this, we are now without words to describe the tremendous hole in our hearts.  She lit up everywhere with her sunny smile and always knew how to make people laugh.   She gave so many smiles to the world — but especially to her large and loving family.  Rest in paradise with eternal love, sweet Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. We will miss you forever.
