Johnny Boyd Obituary

With great sadness, we announce the loss of a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Johnny Ray Boyd, 82, of Wedowee.  In loving memory of Mr. Boyd, we are saddened to announce his passing on June 5, 2024 at Roanoke Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.   A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.  We respectfully join this family in mourning the passing of Mr. Boyd.

In Loving Memory Of Mr. Johnny R. Boyd

Johnny Ray Boyd was born in Wedowee, Randolph, Alabama, May 1, 1942, to the parentage of the late Willie Boyd and Annie Lee Prothro.  A life-long resident of Wedowee, he worshipped at The Antioch Worship Center in Wedowee.    He attended Randolph County High School.  He was married to Ms. Geraldine Rutlin.   

He was blessed with three (3) children — two (2) preceeding him in death:  Earl Boyd, Theresa Boyd (deceased), and Johnny Ray Boyd, Jr., (deceased).   He was skilled in Brick-masonary, construction, carpentry, building houses, and all sorts of construction work.   Mr. Boyd spent his life working in the construction field, devoting many years to serving as a self-employed  handy-man.     

As he neared the end of his life, he came to enjoy outdoor activities, such as fishing, football.  When indoors, he enjoyed watching television programs such as Alabama football, and westerns like as "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza."

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by siblings which included two (2) brothers and two (2) sisters: Willie Ray Boyd, Jr., James Boyd, Leola Boyd,  and Elouise Sheppard leaving only one sibling surviving him.

Mr. Boyd gave many smiles to the world, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  His loved ones include his wife, Geraldine Boyd of Auburn, Alabama; one son: Earl Boyd of LaGrange, GA.; a sister, Elizabeth Smith (Carl) of Talladega, Alabama; four (4) grandchildren three (3) great-grandchildren: a special granddaughter, Brittany Berry (Robert Kirksy); and friends: Billy Marable of Anniston, Alabama,  Billy Cobb;  and many other loving relatives, neighbors and friends who thought the world of him.
