It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my husband, Jessie has left us. Jessie was the love of my life; and I am grateful that God gave us many good years together. He was hard-working, strong, a wonderful provider for our family, and a loving husband and father. We thank everyone for their love and prayers. More Details will be forthcoming.
Jessie Parker was born in Randolph County, Alabama, on August 24, 1959. His parents were the late Charlie Will Parker, Sr., and Lurline Sue Gooden Parker — both Randolph County natives. A life-long resident of our community, he attended Randolph County High School in Wedowee, where he developed a passion for basketball, and became a star athlete. Jessie graduated with the Class of 1979. Aside from his passion for basketball, Jessie was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed the outdoors — working on cars, building things, cutting grass, and helping others;
On August 24, 1980, Jessie married the love of his life, Miss Cynthia Deniece Jordan, and they remained together for 44 years. Jessie and Cynthia made their home here in Wedowee, where they attended church, raised their children, and made many wonderful memories with family and friends. Their marriage gave rise to two children, a son and daughter, Jimmy Jordan, and Mereca Parker who both now reside in Wedowee.
Jessie was employed for 18 years, with Terry Manufacturing Company in Roanoke. Later, he transitioned into the Door Manufacturing industry, where he was employed as a special frame builder. He continued to work in the Door Manufacturing Industry at Jeld-Wen Windows & Doors for another eighteen (18) years. He was a member of the Oak Grove Worship Center in Newell, where he remained faithful until his recent transition.
After walking with the Lord for 64 years, Jessie transitioned from this life on April 17, 2024, at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA. It was there, the death angel took him by the hand, and gently led him to eternity, where he joined hands with his mother, Lurline; his father, Charlie Will; mother-in-law, Vester Ruth; and many other loved ones who preceded him to eternity.
His loved ones include his wife of forty-four years, Mrs. Cynthia Parker of Wedowee; his son, Jimmy and daughter Mereca both of Wedowee; brothers: Reverend Sylvester L. Parker (Ethel) of Wedowee, and Billy Ray Parker (Katessa) of Coldwater; sister, Lola Mae Wright of Wedowee; brothers-in-law: William Jordan (Dot) of Wedowee, Thomas and Nicholas Houston both of Atlanta; sisters-in-law: Betty Angel of Newell, Carol Boyd (Charles) of Heflin; grandchildren: Zikeylon O'Neal; Dante Jordan; Kallie Jordan; Nadia Jordan; Tyrese McClaine; a special niece: Connice Hardnett (Wayne); special nephew, Keith Jordan (Marilyn) of Albertville, AL; and special friends, Johnny and Rochelle Tatum of Wedowee; and last but certainly not least of all, a large number of relatives and friends, loved ones and co-workers.
