It is with very heavy hearts and deepest regret that we inform you of the passing from this life of Mrs. Jessie Mae Andrews, a resident of 9406 County Road 15, Wedowee, Alabama. Mrs. Andrews peacefully transitioned from this life on Friday, November 20, 2020 at her residence in Wedowee.
Ms. Jessie Mae Andrews was born in Wedowee, Randolph County, Alabama on January 6, 1936 to the parentage of the late Sonny and Ollie (Minniefield) Phillips. Her family of origin included six siblings who preceded her to heaven. They include: Mary Lou Thurman, James Phillips, Crawford Phillips, Willie Phillips, Sonny Phillips, Jr., and Ruby Veal.
At an early age, Jessie Mae joined Pine Flat Primitive Baptist Church where she remained a member and served faithfully until her home going.
She was preceded in death by two husbands. She married William Thomas Knight and their union was blessed with seven (7) children. Three (3) sons from this union preceded her in death: Deacon Willis Knight, Jr., Stanley Knight, and Deacon Melvin Knight.
She later married John Oliver Andrews and to this union, one (1) child was born.
Jessie Mae was an extraordinary mother, who was unselfish and loving to all; she was unselfish with smart mothering. She was one of the older generations of mothers who believed in Jesus, family, and doing the right thing. She loved her family and church family deeply.
Her children will forever remember her for having a great sense of humor. They appreciate her for helping to raise several of her children and grandchildren. They adore her for her love of cooking and feeding everyone. An awesome cook, she was well known for her cake-baking talent. They admire her for her love for her church family. They respect her for being a strong-willed woman with amazing strength and wisdom softened by a beautiful spirit. They will continue to strive to follow her example of Christian service as Clerk and Treasurer of Pine Flat Primitive Baptist Church for forty (40) years.
She has now left a legacy with her family who will deeply miss her love and support. She is now in her home "In Heaven" smiling down on us but still with us spiritually.
She is survived by two (2) sons: Elder Thomas J. Knight and Warner Knight (Catrenia) of Wedowee, AL; and three (3) daughters: Rebecca K. Angel of Newell, AL, Suzette K. Huguley (Benny) and Mary J. Mclemore (Felix) of Wedowee, AL; twenty (20), grandchildren; thirty (30) great-grandchildren; and six (6) great-great-grandchildren; special cousins: Betty Lowe and Icie Bell Langston; special family friend Marlene Willis; and finally but not least, a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
