With heartfelt reverence and loving remembrance, we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. James A. “Jimmy” Barnes, 85, of Roanoke, AL. Mr. Barnes departed this life on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia, after a courageous journey with illness.
Born on September 7, 1939, in Five Points, Chambers County, Alabama, Jimmy was a proud native son of the South, rooted in quiet dignity, enduring strength, and a steadfast work ethic. He spent more than 25 years residing in the Roanoke community, where he became a familiar face and a trusted presence among neighbors and friends.
Mr. Barnes was a skilled and self-employed automotive mechanic for over two decades. Known to many as the man who could “fix anything with wheels,” he approached his craft with both excellence and humility.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:21
Though there will be no formal services at this time, the legacy of Mr. James A. Barnes is not measured in ceremonies, but in the everyday kindnesses he extended, the lives he touched, and the example he quietly set. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
*He leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts: his devoted wife and caregiver, Mrs. Janice Barnes of Roanoke; his cherished son, Elijah Barnes (Amber), also of Roanoke; and his treasured granddaughter, Miss Ella Barnes. He is also survived by his sister, Ms. Alice Roberson of Roanoke, along with a host of very kind neighbors, friends, family, and extended family.
