Deacon Horace Burney was born September 22, 1946 in Lineville, Alabama to the parentage of the late (Mr. & Mrs.) Willie Young Burney, Sr., and Linnie Azell (Appleby) Burney.

Horace was a member of the Clay County Training School graduating class of 1965.

At an early age, Horace joined the Springhill Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a member of the Deacon Board, and sung in the Male Chorus. He was a dedicated member of Springhill throughout life.

He began his career at Ace Products, where he retired after 37 years of working in the production area. He enjoyed many years of retirement, which gave him more time to devote to Springhill.

On December 13, 1983, Horace married Ms. Glenda Battle in Lineville, Clay County, Alabama. Their marriage gave rise to a loving blended family. They remained faithfully wed until his passing.

Horace was preceded in death by his father, Willie Young Burney, Sr. and his mother, Linnie Burney; a son, Stacey Battle; four (4) sisters: Alma Burney, Katherine Hardy, Mae Annie Burney and Mozell Burney; three (3) brothers: R.L. Bishop, Willie Young Burney, Jr., and Charles Burney.

On Wednesday, August 15, God called Horace from labor to reward and admitted him into a grand reunion with his loved ones listed above. He was loved very much and will be truly missed but never forgotten.
