Sims are pending and will be announced.

In Loving Memory Of Grady L. Sims

Grady Lee Sims, affectionately known as “Grady Lee” or “GrayLee,” was born on April 10, 1939, in Wedowee, Alabama, to the late Douglas and Fannie Mae (Knight) Sims. On Thursday, September 24, 2026, Grady peacefully transitioned from this life at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.

Grady was educated in Randolph County, Alabama, and graduated from Wedowee High School. Following his education, he entered the construction industry, where he developed a strong work ethic that would remain with him throughout his life. He later began a career in maintenance at U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana, where he faithfully worked for more than 30 years before retiring.

At an early age, Grady accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Canaan Baptist Church in Wedowee, Alabama. His faith remained an important part of his life. As his spiritual journey continued, Grady faithfully served his church and answered the call to become a Deacon at Canaan Baptist Church. His commitment to his faith was reflected not only in his service to the church, but also in the way he lived his life and cared for those around him.

Grady was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mae Emma (Molden) Sims. Their union was blessed with 45 years of marriage, during which they built a loving home and raised their three children. Together, Grady and Mae Emma shared a lifetime of memories rooted in love, family, faith, and devotion. Mae Emma preceded him in death on March 1, 2005.

Grady was a hardworking and devoted family man whose life was centered around the people he loved. To his family, he was more than a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a source of strength, wisdom, guidance, and love. Those who knew him as Grady Lee or GrayLee will remember the life he lived, the lessons he shared, and the lasting impression he left upon everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Grady was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mae Emma Sims; his parents, Douglas and Fannie Mae Sims; and his siblings, Eldora Molden, John William Sims, Arthur Ray Sims, Douglas Sims Jr., Joe Frank Sims, Mary Bussett, and Andrew Jackson Sims.

He leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Myra Sims (Anthony), Earl Sims (Duangpen), and Eddie Sims (Vernita); his brother, Ivers Sims (Vanessa); his sisters, Lovie Mae Tyler, Annie Lois Marsh, Eva Houston, and Faye Smith; Special Granddaughter, Terryona Sims; along with a loving host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, church family, and dear friends.

Although Grady’s earthly journey has come to an end, the love he gave, the faith he demonstrated, and the legacy he built will continue to live through the generations that follow him. His family will forever carry his memory in their hearts and remain grateful for the many years they were blessed to share with him. May Grady walk in the light of the sun as if all can see him at all times. Grady Lee will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
