The Obituary
We pause to remember one of our most beloved community mothers, Mrs. Eula Mae Harrison, who will long be remembered as one of the most compassionate and caring souls in our community.
Miss Eula Mae Hudson was born in Troup County, Georgia on December 14, 1927, to the parentage of the late Shed Hudson and Viola (Harris) Sheppard. She was later blessed with a step-father, Charlie Sheppard.
At an early age, she united with the Wehadkee Missionary Baptist Church, Abottsford, Georgia, where she was a faithful and active member.
Eula Mae served Wehadkee Baptist Church as a member of the Kitchen Committee, and the Choir until declining health forced her to give up her duties.
She devoted her productive years as a dedicated employee of Dixie Yarn Mills (LaGrange) and Smith Grocery (Five Points). A true Missionary, Eula Mae was especially good about looking after the elderly; and her love for children afforded her the opportunity to raise a lot of babies -- her own, and others.
Eula Mae united in marriage with the late John T. Harrison. Their fruitful union gave rise to ten children -- five sons and five daughters. She was preceded in death by four of her sons, Bobby Lewis (also known as "Jack"), Haynes, Willie B., Jessie, and Henry; and two daughters, Ruby Strong, and Elise Atkinson. Eula Mae was also preceded in death by two brothers: Willie Sheppard and Robert Sheppard.
When this world could no longer afford her a home, she quietly slipped away from family and friends on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at her home in Five Points.
She leaves to cherish loving memories two sons, John Lee Dunn (Fannie Bell) of LaGrange and Donnie Harrison (Debra) of Five Points; and two daughters Martha Ann Harrison (Raymond) of Five Points, and Linda Thornton (Johnny) of LaGrange;
six brothers: John Sheppard, Bobbie Sheppard (Leanna) and Reverend LeRoy Sheppard (Dorothy) all of LaGrange, Georgia; Roosevelt Sheppard (Irene) of Atlanta, George Sheppard (Vivian) of Columbus and Willie B. Hudson (Benita) of Carrollton;
four sisters: Charlie Bell McFarland (James), Martha Sheppard and Katherine Sheppard (Richard) all of LaGrange; and Carrie Lue Strozier of Carrollton;
With all due respect to each and every member of this family, we cannot fail to acknowledge those who were especially close to her. They include: a special uncle: Grady Hudson of LaGrange; a special grandson, Shadrick Harrison of Pittsburgh; a special granddaughter, Lisa Harrison of LaGrange; a special great grandson, Levie Harrison of Pittsburgh; special friends, Jessie and Nancy Bailey and Godchildren, Mike and Faye Moore and children all of Five Points; and Mickey and Sherry Keeble and children;
Fourteen (14) grandchildren; forty (40) great grandchildren, seven (7) great great grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives, kindred, neighbors and friends.
