It is with our deepest and heartfelt sympathy that we inform you of the passing from this life of Ms. Ethel B. Phillips, 105, native Randolph Countian and resident of Chattanooga, TN. Ms. Phillips transitioned from this life on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at NHC Health Care in Chattanooga.
Born December 18, 1914 in Randolph County, Alabama, Ethel was the daughter of the late Will and Layla (Patillo) Bryant and the widow of the late Cleve Tom Phillips. The Phillips were life-long residents of Roanoke until declining health compelled her to relocate. During her productive years, she was a long-time employee of Wadley Manufacturing Company. They were active members of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, in the Dickert Community, Wadley. For Ms. Ethel, she loved the simple joys in life ...cooking, sewing, gardening, and attending church. In 1993, She relocated to Chattanooga, where she lived until her death.
Ms. Ethel was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Phillips of Chattanooga; her husband, Mr. Cleve Tom Phillips of Roanoke; her father, Will Bryant and mother Layla Bryant Phillips both of Wadley (Dickert).
Mrs. Ethel Phillips is survived by four sons, Bobby L. Phillips, Dolphus Phillips, Donnie Phillips (Shirley) and Larry Phillips all of Chattanooga, TN, one daughter, Ms. Agnes Allen of Roanoke, Alabama; one sister, Cera Bell Johnson Sister Lima, OH, and several other extended family members from here in Roanoke and other nearby communities.
