Dewitt Allen, Jr. Obituary

With deepest regret, we announce the passing from this life of Mr. Dewitt Allen, Jr. also known as "Bubba Allen", age 78, a resident of 680 Seymour Drive, Roanoke, Alabama.  Mr. Allen transitioned from this life on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Roanoke Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Roanoke, after an extended illness.

Dewitt was one of six children -- born in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama on May 6, 1941 to the parentage of the late Reverend Dewitt Allen, Sr. and Mrs. Rosie Lee (Poole) Allen.   Other siblings -- now deceased -- born into this parentage included the late Reverend  Rocelius Allen, Josephine Freeman, and Mary Emily Watts.

The entire family committed their lives to Christ, and joined Rocky Mount United Methodist Church in Roanoke, a once-thriving congregation consisting of many loyal families in the Broughton Community.  Bubba remained a member of Rocky Mount throughout his life.  He faithfully served the church as a Steward, often accompanying the Pastor to the Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.  He also was in charge of the cemetery at Rocky Mount until declining health would no longer allow him to do so.

Bubba attended the historic Randolph County Training School (R.C.T.S.) graduating with the Class of 1960.  He was a great outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting rabbits and squirrels, and riding a four-wheeler.  Above-all, he really enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his daughter, Sandra's cooking -- especially her desserts and sweets.  He and his son, Charles sealed their life-long bond as great fishing buddies.   He was a person brimming with love for the entire family.

Bubba was a cheerful spirit and great person to be around.  He gave us many smiles and moments of laughter and joy.  Just a short time ago -- in September -- he was admitted to Roanoke Rehabiltation and Health Care Center here in the city, where he left his final footprints on this earth in preparation to go to his eternal home.   It was there that he quietly stood face to face with his own mortality, and transitioned to eternal life.   It was at that point, we do believe, that he awakened in Eternity and is with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.  Because this is what he believed, this is what WE believe.

Bubba is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes (Phillips) Allen of Roanoke, AL;  a son, Charles Allen (Kaye) of Carrollton, Georgia; three daughters: Wanda Allen (Rick) of Valley, Al;  Sandra Lyons (James) and Dinah Allen (Darrell) of Roanoke, AL; two (2) sisters: Doris Thompson of Roanoke, AL, and Christine Allen of Detroit, MI; six (6) grandchildren and two (2) great grandchildren: Xavier Watkins, Tiara Allen, Nicolette Allen, Raeven Finch, Niesha Lyons, QuonDarius Lyons, Laekyn  Allen, and Tayten Marable; five (5) brothers-in-law: Dolphus Phillips, Donny Phillips, Bobby Phillips and Larry Phillips all of Chattanooga, TN; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
