It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Roanoke native, Ms. Cynthia Sherell (Nolan) Shears, age 45, a resident of 961 Dr. Fisher Road, Franklin, Georgia. Ms. Shears passed away on April 30, 2014 at the West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia.
Public viewing and visiting hours for Ms. Shears will be observed on Wednesday afternoon, May 7, 2014, between the hours of 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. On Thursday morning May 8, she will be placed in state at Christian Memorial Baptist Church for visitation from 11:00 am until the hour of the funeral.
Funeral Service for Ms. Shears will be observed on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 2:00 O’Clock PM from the Christian Memorial Baptist Church, 1644 Highway 431 North, Roanoke, Alabama.
The Reverend Keith Nolan will officiate and serve as Eulogist, and will be joined by Bishop Tom Staples, and Reverend Travis Leonard.
Burial will follow in Skyview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, U.S. Highway 431 South, Five Points, Alabama.

Ms. Cynthia Sherell Nolan was born 1968 in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama on December 15, to the parentage of the late Harold Nolan, and Mae Dell Henderson Nolan (Later Mae Dell Winston).
At an early age, Cynthia joined First Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended until she moved to Franklin, Georgia. She also attended Roanoke Schools. During the time of her residence in her hometown of Roanoke, Alabama, Cynthia united in marriage with Mr. Orlando Shears. This union gave rise to three (3) children.
She later moved to Franklin, Georgia, where she was employed as a Machine Operator at Franklin Aluminum. She also worked for many years in the health care field.
Cynthia was engaged to Mr. Lawrence Nelson of Franklin, Georgia. They were buying a home and continuing to raise her children together.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Keith Shears,and Christopher Shears. Cynthia’s life journey ended on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Troup County, Georgia after a sudden illness.
Cynthia was a special gift to the world, a joy to her sisters and brothers, and a blessing to her children. She gave many smiles to the world, but none more than her fiance, friend and companion, Lamar Nelson of Franklin, Georgia; her step-father, Rowe Winston of Roanoke, Alabama; her mother-in-law, Sandra Nelson of Franklin, Georgia; her two (2) sons: Cornelius T. Nolan (Natasha) of Wedowee, Alabama and Patrick L. Nolan (Naslie) of Roanoke, Alabama; three (3) daughters: Marquita S. Shears and LaTeisha Shears (Terence) both of Franklin, Georgia, and Latasha Shears of Roanoke, Alabama; two (2) stepsons, Zanny and "JJ" of Franklin, Georgia; fourteen (14) grandchildren; three (3) brothers: Michael Henderson of Birmingham, Alabama, Mitchell Leon Ogletree (Margie) of Roanoke, Alabama and Harold Vernon Ogletree (Engrid) of Pensacola, Florida; two (2) sisters: Tracey Goss (Thomas) of Roanoke, Alabama and Debbie Nolan (Claude) of Mobile, Alabama; three (3) uncles: Eulas B. Henderson of Eastaboga, Alabama, Walter Nolan and Angelo Nolan both of Roanoke, Alabama; three (3) aunts: Audrey Lee (James), Katherine White and Dicie Sims all of Roanoke, Alabama; a special cousin, Connie Keeler of Hogansville, Georgia; her best friends, Virginia Emory and Sarah Person of Franklin, Georgia; and finally a great host of loving relatives, neighbors and friends who’s lives she touched.
