IN LOVING MEMORY OF MR. CLINTON DOWDLE

Clinton Dowdle was the youngest and last son, born to the parentage of the late Manuel and Gussie Walker Dowdle, in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama on September 17, 1937. He was the youngest in a large family of siblings of this parentage. He was preceded in death by all his siblings including: Jessie Mae, Jewell, Sarah, Corean, SSgt. Herbert Dowdle, Roy, Leona, Melinda, Howard, Manuel, Jr., Ruby Jean, Doris and finally Lewis.

A life long member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church in Roanoke, Clinton remained in this area throughout his life, attending school in the Broughton Community, and later, the historic Randolph County Training School in Roanoke.

Clinton worked in the sawmill and lumber milling industry most of his life. He also worked in the door manufacturing industry at JL&M Manufacturing Company in Roanoke and in Wedowee.

Though he never married, Clinton was endeared to Annie Bell Robertson of Roanoke, who eventually became his domestic partner and caregiver during his period of declining health. They remained close friends until his passing.

Clinton transitioned from this life on Thursday afternoon, November 15, 2018 around 4:00 pm at LaFayette Nursing Home in LaFayette, Chambers County, Alabama.

He leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories: a special nephew, Mr. William J. Lee (Graden) of Columbus, Georgia; a very special friend and former caregiver, Ms. Annie Bell Robertson and family: Bobby Robertson and Rickey Robertson all of Roanoke, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
