Christine Nixon Obituary

Obituary for Ms. Christine Nixon
Clark Memorial Funeral Service, Roanoke, Alabama

With hearts both heavy and grateful, the family of Ms. Christine Annette Nixon announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the age of 76. Christine, a lifelong resident of Valley, Alabama, entered eternal rest at Crenshaw Community Hospital in Luverne, Alabama.

Born in Langdale, Alabama, Christine was the daughter of the late Frank Adams and Leola Burdette, and was one of three siblings. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Mr. Jimmy Nixon, as well as her brothers, Frank Adams, Jr. and John Lee Adams.

Christine accepted Christ at an early age and held fast to her Christian faith throughout her life. In her lifetime, she had many church homes where she actively served, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Antioch Baptist Church, and Hall Memorial CME Church as well. She loved worship, was a joyful presence in the choir, and also devoted time to teaching Sunday School, gently planting seeds of faith into the hearts of young learners.

A woman of many talents, Christine was no stranger to hard work. She supported her husband in the family’s painting business — a labor of love and creativity that brought color into the lives of many. In earlier years, she worked in a textile mill and later found fulfillment in her work at the housing assistance office in Lanett, Alabama, where she was known for her compassion, reliability, and deep concern for the well-being of others. Whether helping individuals secure housing or offering a kind word to someone in distress, Christine approached her duties with a servant’s heart and a quiet dignity that uplifted all who crossed her path.

Christine's beloved family includes two (2) daughters; Sharon Gooden  (Major) of Virginia Beach, VA and Marietta Moody (William) of Beulah, AL; one (1) son; Quentin McGhee of Jonesboro, GA;  god-daughter; Crystal Avery;  closest and best friend;  Susie Woody Avery; eleven (11) grandchildren;  five (5) great-grandchildren;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, the light of Christine's spirit will continue to shine in the lives of those she touched. Her kindness, her quiet strength, and her unwavering commitment to faith and family serve as an enduring example to all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes your prayers, and invites you to honor Christine's memory by extending a gesture of kindness to someone in need — just as she so often did in her lifetime.

Let us all remember Christine not in sorrow, but with gratitude for a life that was meaningful, gracious, and beautifully lived.

May she rest in heavenly peace.
