In Loving Memory Of Mrs. Catherine Williams
Catherine (Cat) Magby-Williams was born in Roanoke, Randolph County, Alabama on July 17, 1932 to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Oliver and Beulah Mae (Cosby) Magby, both Alabama natives. Her family of origin was a large and loving family of brothers and sisters who (with the exception of one) have already transitioned to eternity, leaving her -- the youngest of seventeen (17) siblings -- to follow.
During her youth, she confessed Christ, was baptized and joined the family church, Friendship Baptist Church in the Bacon Level Community in Roanoke, Alabama, where she remained a faithful member until overtaken by declining health and rendered unable to continue attending and serving. Nevertheless, her love for home, family and church remained evident.
Catherine attended the Randolph County Training School in Roanoke. Later in life, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia and united with the LOVE OF HER LIFE, the late James Williams. Together, they raised eleven (11) children. While residing in Atlanta, she was employed as a seamstress for the Lovable Bra Company, for more than twenty (20) years.
Her children honor and remember her for being a common, people person: "Our mother was a class act at being a servant... she helped people. Although Catherine was the youngest of 17 siblings, she took on the role to SERVE and GIVE BACK to her Family and Community. This was something our Mother truly enjoyed. Always going above and beyond when it came to CARING for others. Although sometimes it meant putting herself last, she gave her all on this earth.... Making people laugh was one of Mother's specialties among many, many others. Laughter was second nature when it came to Catherine. To know her was to LOVE HER. A JOB WELL DONE MOTHER!"
Catherine was preceded in death by four (4) sons: Robert, Donald and Michael Williams and Luther Grier; one (1) daughter, Sandra Johnson; two (2) grandchildren: Joshua and Maurice; also by her siblings: Pauline, Louise, Ora D. Charlie, Ukley, Clarence, Robert, Arthur, J.C. Nimrod, Emory, Lee Ella, Lizzie, Mary, and Annie Pearl. She transitioned from this life on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Douglasville Nursing and Rehab Center, Douglasville, Georgia.
Mourning her departure, Celebrating her life, and Cherishing her memory are, her sons: Eddie of Atlanta, Georgia, Ronald Williams (Betty) of Monroeville, Pensylvania, and Leonard Holliday, Jr. of Dallas, Georgia; and daughters: Janice Roper, of Roanoke, Alabama, Rosalyn Spurlin of LaGrange, Georgia, and Brenda Lisa O'Neal of Columbus, Georgia; Grandchildren: Melissa, Chandra, Tradon, Gavin, Shaneeka, Brandon, Kim, Carlos, Wayne & Elizabeth Rogers, Icee, Ralph Shannon, Rickey, Nicholas, Jay, Trina, Valarie, Gary, Daryl, Britney and Jennifer; finally five generations of great grandchildren -- too numerous to name; a beloved brother, O.C. Magby of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and a great host of beloved relatives, extended family, church family and friends.
